08 G35xs does not recognize my Iphone 4S, could I be using the wrong cable?
Well I have read up on this topic for a while and I came to the conclusion that the 07 and 08 g35's with ipod integration are all compatible regarding the cables to get them to work. Except I bought one off of ebay (I am getting it returned no cost if it doesn't work so it's no risk to me) and it hasn't recognized my phone. I plug it in and nothing happens, I am pretty sure I have all of the settings right.
Hi there, I would think its the cable... you know apple is very weird with their cables and stuff usually only work with the propitiatory cable, what I would do its to find someone with the original infiniti cable and try it in your car + phone and see...... Try going to infiniti dealer they might have one laying around with no use and sell it for cheap.....
You'll probably get a good answer if you include some more details or pictures about the cable you purchased. Is it a single cable or one that extends the existing Infiniti cable. What's the model number, is there a link on ebay you can share.
From my understanding and research, the iPod docking system that your 2008 contains only supports up to a certain generation of the iPhone.
I believe the highest generation supported with the navigability of the iDevice, audio transmission, and charging is only supported on 3GS and older models. Meaning that any newer iPhone/iDevice connected via any OEM/non-OEM iPod cables will not be compatible with your vehicle.
Watch out for a thread in this sub-forum I will be posting momentarily of an option you may want to consider for connecting your phone to your car.

I saw your post, but I would really prefer a non-wireless solution to my problem. My Iphone's battery is sub-par and I would like to have it charging while playing music, instead of it losing power. Since you said it works for 3GS and below, I tried my old Ipod touch (which I assume is a 3rd generation) and it also didn't work. So I think it might be safe to say that it is the cable's fault, and that I should just try another one that is actually 100% designated for my car.
