Dead AC & Audio/NAV - bad engine fuse box? Feasible?

Hi everyone. Searched through old threads and didnt find quite what I was looking for so had to ask-

Looking at a used 2008 G35 an acquaintance is trying to sell. AC and nav/radio are both out, he says the dealer told him the fuse box in the engine compartment (the one behind the battery, that you have to take the battery out to get to, basically) is the problem and needs to be swapped for a new one.

Does this sound legit? Are fuses that would affect AC and radio/nav located here?

Instrument panel and panel illumination work fine.

Any info / advice appreciated. Thanks.

Anyone? Anyone with insights on dead center consoles on 2008 G35's?

If you remove the fuse panel you should see a chart stipulating what fuse is for what. Perhaps try that route first, if it doesn't work the Nav / Radio might be fried but that's a long shot. Perhaps the previous owner had an amp and sub and might have forgotten to install the harness properly behind the radio. There's so many different things that might have happened.

Process of elimination sounds like the route you need to take.

The inside of the panel is missing the fuse chart. The dealer said the whole fuse box assembly was bad and it needed to be completely replaced for like $500+.

Does it sound feasible? Or are the fuses for the radio and AC located somewhere else? I've visually checked all of the fuses and theyre intact

If the dealer claims the fusebox is shot, perhaps you want to get a second opinion. Find a reputable mechanic that works on our vehicles. Keep in mind the cost would be a lot less than a dealership.

Another route could be scrappers, perhaps they have some totalled G's in their lot and I highly doubt the fusebox would be ruined if the vehicle was in a rear or frontal accident.

As for fuses in different locations, I have no clue. Perhaps somebody else will chime on this.

That's what I would do if I where you.

Hope this helps.

Come to think of it, if the fusebox was shot, nothing would work in the vehicle. Unless I'm missing something.
