Playing music from iphone 5(s) in 08 sedan
Quick update on this. I exchanged the adapters at the Apple Store and still the same result. So I went and bought a new factory iPod cable from Infiniti and now I can connect my phone and use steering wheel controls (but not charging). Thanks for the info.
This isn't the cleanest looking solution but it worked in my wife's '09 Journey.
Monster Cable's "Music Connect" consists of left and right RCA plugs on the car end and 3.5mm mini plug at the phone end.
Then for charging I use the Apple supplied Lightning to USB cord plugged into a USB to cigarette lighter adapter.
I can't tell any difference in sound quality but you do lose dash controls. On the other hand you gain Siri functionality.
Like I said, it isn't pretty but you can coil the mess together with a zip tie and drop it in your console.
P.S. The 30 pin to Lightning adapter didn't work for me either.

Thought you all would be interested that I now have my 5S working with full steering wheel controls AND charging. Details and parts list are here: https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-aud...ml#post6835096.
