Gas Gauge

For those of you in northern cold *** states, at what temp does your gas gauge usually stop working. My area finally hit negatives last night and was at -4F this morning when I left for work. I know I have around a half tank, due to driving yesterday, as my driving computer I have plugged into the OBDII port, but my gas gauge shows empty. Anybody else ever had this happen?

It's sending the correct data so the problem isn't in the fuel tank, likely your instrument cluster gauge crapped out. Unfortunately this is a common problem with the G35, one of the resistors peels off the PCB in the gauge cluster. Likely the temperature extreme shrunk the components enough that the resistor broke off, it might start working again when the cabin warms up but that's unlikely.

I filled up my tank on the way home and it went up to full. Yesterday it was warmer and worked showing full, today cold as crap again and showed empty. Seems like my car just doesn't like the cold.

That sucks Broski. Have you tried taking out the cluster and reconnecting it? I've had my fair share of the door freezing and not opening for weeks because of the cold weather. Keep us posted.

It's fine now, apparently it only likes to happen when it's really cold. Once we got out of our subzero days it started working again and has worked just fine ever since.
