Depin wire from connector at head unit

I'm installing an after market backup camera in my 07. I'm hooking it into the existing display so it looks like I need to disconnect the speed sensor wire at the head unit and and ground the parking brake in order to work when the car is in reverse. (I already spliced the camera itself to the reverse light power.)

This video
almost lays it out except at 6:10 where he says "so I just unplugged the wire" referring to the speed sensor. I've been fighting with the connector for three hours with no luck trying to get the wire unplugged. I cannot get the wire pulled out for the life of me. It looks like sliding the panel on the top of the connector down (pic below) followed by inserting a needle in the hole on top corresponding to the wire I'm trying to pull would free it up. I cannot pull it out.

I believe the blue and gray wires are the parking brake and speed sensor, respectively.

I think I unlock by pulling down the green-circled handle.

Any suggestions on what I'm missing or if there's a better approach, I'm all ears!

Thanks!

Most Nissan connectors that green part you circled needs to be pryed out (in your picture, like towards the camera, it should hinge at the top or bottom of the connector, there should be a hinge on both sides of the conenctor depending on which half you need to depin). That's the retainer, once you flip it out then you can push a small screwdriver or paperclip or something else into the metal pin retainer at the end where it actually plugs in. This will release the tab on the actual pin itself and then you grab the wire and pull it out.

Thanks, Cleric.

Yeah, it seems like that's what sliding down on the green-circled part does. It doesn't open the retainer much, but when we're talking a fraction of a mm hole to stick a paper clip in, that may be all it needs. What I thought looked like a hinge may as likely be just part of the mechanism.

I'm guessing I'm just missing "the touch" on pushing in the release (needle/paper clip) and tugging out the wire.
