Speed sensor for HUD

I have an 03 sedan and the pdf service manual. But I can't seem to find where the vehicle speed sensor wire is underneath the steering column. Anyone has any idea?

I have an external HUD (Head Up Display) unit that I'd like to install on the driver side dash. The unit requires its wire to hook it up to the vehicle speed sensor wire. I found the speed sensor wire (green/white) from the Nav unit plug, but I don't know where the speed sensor wire is on the driver side underneath the steering column (or if there is such wire down there that sends/receive vehicle speed signals). The reason why I can't hook it up to Nav unit is because the wire from the HUD is too short. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Would simply extending the wire not be the easiest thing to do?

Curious about the HUD unit. What model is it? Pics?

It's certainly easy to extend the wire, but it's harder to get the wires across the driver side under the dash considering taking apart the center console parts, etc. So if there is already a speed sensor wire on the driver side, I think it should be easier. So, if no one knows, then I guess adding wire extension would be the only route to take.

Here's the HUD pic (bottom pic) http://www.seii.com.tw/html-english/product_02-1-e.html

Nice! I'd be interested to see pics of the installed unit. Getting a wire from the passenger side over to the driver side is not difficult. There is plenty of room behind the ventilation ductwork to route it.

Thanks Noremac. I'll have to find time to install it. Once I'm done I'll post pics. I'll send you a pm also.

The vehicle speed sensor wire is available at these stuff:

The Nav System,
The Factory Radio,
The Compass,

and maybe under the driver seat (not so sure about this one but if my memory is still alright i remember that i read about it in the FSM)

There`s a thread on My350Z.com for Sharif@Forged he messed with the 2-Step Launch Control with GReddy E-Manage Ultimate, and KPrieson posted a tips about where to get the Vehicle Speed Signal From in the G35, hope that helps
