there arent too many mods out there for the 07+ g35's yet whereas the current s4 body has been out for over 2 yrs now. wait a lil bit or do the community a favor and be the guinea pig and test out all the combos yourself. if you dont want to do that, lease the s4. itll solve all your reliability issues.

 

You are comparing cars with a $20,000 (in Canada) difference in price tags.

The S4 is a V8 with 340HP and over 300 ft-lbs of torque compared to V6 with 306HP and 268 ft-lbs of torque.

You can put 18,19 or 20" wheels on the G35X with good performance tires but they must be the same size all around all around. Guys have used lowering springs with the X (use the search) but they are not made specifically for it. There are no performance shocks available for the X.
There are intake and exhaust mods available (search).

 

What does the S4's horsepower have to do with handling?

Am I wrong to think that there are rims that are wider and larger with better tires that will fit on the G35x?

Am I wrong to think that there is a proven combination of springs and shocks that will work on the G35x?

 

bigger doesnt necessarily mean better. there is a reason why most ppl who track their cars dont run 20's or even 18's (rarely). wider with a good compound is the key. as for the second question, it goes back to the fact that there arent too many mods available for the g35 sedan, let alone the "x" model.

apparently your being childish. go back to school and learn how to read. he CLEARLY stated what needs to be done (along with a few of the other guys). just in case you missed it, here it is again...

here, ill spell it out for you. the 07+ g35 sedan is too new. there are only a handful of mods available. ONE guy is running CUSTOM coilovers. the rest are running springs from various tuners. a couple tuners make sway bars, intakes and exhaust systems. search the forum archives (its a sticky for god's sake!) and you will find what you are looking for. i would HOPE and ASSUME that, coming from a corvette, you know a TAD bit about what tires to use for max performance!

Well, I had an 04 S4,6 spd,, it was nice enough, however, the G35X i am driving now, is def quicker!!! but not as fast top speed, 130 Mph to 155 the G is softer in roll and not as stiffly sprung, It is however i bit lighter as others have said there just isn't the performance wheel, shock, spring, parts selection as with other cars.... it is also a bigger car regards....

 

and the C6 Z06 cost $100,000 less then a 575 maranello. Guess what dude, PRICE ISNT EVERYTHING.

What are the widest wheels that will fit on a stock 2007+ G35x?
I'm thinking either 17's or 18's.

In addition, what tire (model and size) are recommended that will fit these rims?

I am in the Philadelphia area and will be driving this car as my year-round daily driver.

I'm guessing that the sport 18 by 8.5 will fit all the way around with some spacers up front. If you are buying aftermarket wheels, a correctly ordered offset will cancel the need for spacers. Remember you need the same size all the way around the x model. I would recomend BFGoodrich KD's in a 245-45-18. There are swaybays available, and springs available. The outcome is never a stock feeling car. I can't stress enough that these cars are at a totally different price point, and the upgrade path for the new G has not been mapped out yet. If you goal is to mod the thing out, you may be in for a dissapointment.

TT_C6 - IMO the G and the S4 are two completely different cars that you just can't compare. The A4 yes, but that S4 is a hot car that is in a different league than the G. Don't get me wrong...I love my G. But you will never get this car to perform like the S4 unless you dump loads of money into it. And if you do...that means money is no option...so then just spend it on the S4 because then you can afford the reliability issues of Audi and get the performance you are looking for. Maybe if you were just saying that you wanted to buy the G35X and just improve it as much as possible it would be taken better. But you have been specificaly wanting it to it to perform like the S4 and that is just a very intangible statement for anybody to give solid comments on. People love talking about their cars and their mods, so the help is here.

Short story...at one point you said something like "I just want to get this car to perform like the S4, is that so hard?". Well...honestly...I think yes.

 

I can phrase the question any way you guys want it.

The bottom line is I have to get the G35x to handle better that it does stock.
I need to run the most rubber all the way around as possible.

I have to find out which wheel and tire combination will give me the best daily driver handling and that has already been proven on the G35x.

If I can find a PROVEN spring and shock combination,
I will do that as well.


So, anyone know of a wheel and tire combo that has been proven yet on the G35x?
How about shocks and springs?
