All Season Tires and Sizes for 07 Sport Wheels

Anyone tried other than stock sizes on the 18 in. sport rims? I am considering the following sizes and tires:

- 245/45/R18 on the front, to replace the stock 225/50/18s.

- 255/45/18s on the back, to replace the stock 245/45/18s.

The stock Bridgestones RE 50A were a good tire but after 14K mi. they are dead and gone, and I would rather a more durable, A/S tire since I live in Mass and you can only safely run summer tires 5 or 6 mo a year. I am considering Eagle F1 A/S or BF Goodrich G-Force Super Sport A/S. Any comments from anyone running these sizes and /or tires?

I use the cheap General UHP 245-45-18's from www.tirerack.com
I've had one set for 2 years (24k miles) with no problems and plenty of tread still left.

I hope you aren't putting the 255s on the front 7.5" rims, they are much too wide for the stock OEM front 7.5" rim.
I ran 255/40/18 all arond on my G35X last year, but that was on 8.5" rims.

Nope, 245/45 in front and 255/45 in back,on the stock sport rims. Ordered them yesterday, probably put them on mid march or so. I dont want to jinx the spring weather by putting them on too soon (that would guarantee 2-3 more months of snow!)

So if you put the larger 245/45's on the front standard rims(G35 Sport) there is no problem with hitting anything or affecting the stability control? I would love to change the standard sizes because they are made by few manufacturers, which limits your choices for matching sets.

I do not foresee a problem because the size change is not very significant, because

- The 245/45/18 tire diameter is a 0.3 in. decrease from the 225/50/18 tires, or about the same diameter as the stock tire with 1/2 of the tread worn.

- The 245/45/18 tire is ideally designed for an 8 in. rim, but the range rims it will fit is 7.5 to 9 in. The stock 225/50/18 is ideally fitted to a 7 in. rim. Therefore, neither tire size seems ideal for this rim.

Posters in other threads in this forum also seem to confirm there are no problems with putting 245/45/18 tires on the front.

I will post some feedback on the G-Force Super Sport A/S after I put them on and drive on them a bit, but this won't be until after winter is over.
