Has anyone changed thier own brakes.

I want to replace my brakes and do it myself. I am wondering is it safe to collapse the brake calipers. In other words, is it safe to send brake fluid in reverse through the system.

Page BR-40 of the FSM says to push the piston back in and cautions to keep an eye on the reservoir to make sure it does not overflow.

That implies it is OK to push fluid back through the ABS.

Anyone know if the rear calipers simply compress or are they the screw type?

All just plain old PRESS TYPE brakes. No european screw types (i hate those). As mentioned, just pump up the brakes before you back out of the driveway in the street with no brake pressure. Very straight forward brake job.
