Mine just say RE050A, no pole position labeling on the tire.

Tirerack told me the Pole Position is a better tire and it cost less.

The OEM Tires on the Sport Model are the Bridgestone Potenza REO50A. There is also the REO50 (without the "A"). There is also the REO50A Pole Position with UNI-T. Check the difference below:

Potenza REO50A: Original equipment on many high-performance vehicles, the Potenza RE050 is built for the pleasure of driving. This tire comes loaded with race-proven technology: UNI-T for outstanding wet and dry traction, a tread pattern that promotes rapid water evacuation, variable dimensions in the tread blocks, and the smoother shape to reduce road noise. An asymmetrical pattern in the RE050A tread increases surface contact to enhance acceleration and cornering. Put this Potenza through its paces and discover what ultra-high performance really means.

REO50A Pole Position w/UNI-T: The Potenza RE050A Pole Position comes loaded with race-inspired technology: UNI-T for outstanding wet and dry traction, a tread pattern that promotes rapid water evacuation, variable dimensions in the tread blocks, and a smooth shape to reduce noise. An asymmetrical pattern in the RE050A Pole Position tread increases surface contact to enhance acceleration and cornering. Put this Potenza through the paces and discover what ultra-high performance really means.

Note that both of these tires share the same tread rating of 140 AAA. However, both can differ in speed rating.

In short, just check here: http://www.bridgestonetire.com/

Oh, forgot to mention. The quickest, and most sure way to determine which tires you have on your ride is to look at the actual tire itself. It will clearly state, "BRIDGESTONE POTENZA REO50A Pole Position." The OEM will state, "BRIDGESTONE POTENZA REO50A."

Thanks! Tires are one thing I don't mind spending money on! You can't go wrong with either one of them!

Also, BRIDGESTONE CORP (BRCDY) usually does fairly well.

you did read the description you posted right? Because the only "real" difference I see is:
This tire comes loaded with race-proven technology
vs
The Potenza RE050A Pole Position comes loaded with race-inspired technology

In general, the primary difference is the poleposition has a different compound used in the construction of the tire. The two have similar tread patterns so they should have very similar driving characteristics in most conditions, but the pole position will probably be stickier on dry roads than the regular RE050A.

For the G35S with stock tires, the primary difference is that the pole position isn't available in OEM size for the froint.

I had the old top of the line pole position tires (S-03 Pole Positions) on my IS300 and I absolutely loved those tires. They were hands down the best tires I've ever used. Given how much I enjoy the RE050A OEMs, I'm guessing the pole positions will be at least as good a tire. It's a shame they don't make the 225/50 18 size

I'm back in business with new rears "RE050A Pole Position" ($449 later from tirerack.con plus $79.00 for installation at Pearson Infiniti in Richmond "Home of the Losers"). I never factored $500 ever 18k to 20k miles for tires when i bought this car, oh well.
