I called my dealer for brake pad prices and he wanted my VIN number to match up the pads with the date of manufacture.
He was saying that they make different oem pads for cars built within the same YEAR!

Is this total bull**** or am I selling my car?

 

The sedans do have two diff brake sizes, one for sport (larger 13" f&r), and one for the rest (smaller 12.6" f, 12.1" r). Maybe it's easier for him to check out your exact config that way rather than asking you. You gotta figure some people have no clue what they're driving. Prob does't apply to most here.

 

dealers always asks for VIn numbers when calling for parts.

 

They just don't want to chance ordering the wrong part because a customer "thinks" they know what they have/need.

 

The dealer uses a program that uses the vin to figure out the options accessories and trim of your car. It will also tell them your color and date of manufacture. I have the nissan version of this program on my computer. There are often slight variations that require different part numbers but multiple parts will interchange.

 

Is there a nissan model car that has the same brake pad fitting as the +07 G35s?
