HELP!!!! brakes squeak....

I noticed my brakes squeak badly when I apply a little pressure on the pedal but when i brake harder it goes away. Anybody know how to fix this problem? My car has only 17,00 miles on it so i really hope my brakes arent already going bad on me.

Take off the wheel open the caliper and apply some brake pad grease(brake quiet) on back of all four pads and you should have no more "squeaks" or better yet let the dealer do that with only 1700mi on the odo...

07+ sedans have extremely long-lived pads - mine are at 21k of hard driving and still just over halfway.

same here 21k+ and about 50% pad left so just try the brake lubricant.

I noticed the same thing, my car's only done around 4500 kilometres, and a month back the breaks were squeaking under slight breaking. I thought it was the pads (checked and they were fine) so I'm guessing it needs greasing, and I guess with the hot weather here it doesn't help much.

Weird thing is I went on vacation for a month and just got back last week, since coming back the car hasn't squeaked once, but I won't be surprised if it did.

Similar situation, squeaking under light brake application 18.7k miles. Oil change tomorrow morning will have the dealer handle it.

check your shims, on light braking apps it could be from vibrations. put a bunch of gunk between the shim and the brake pad

Today I cleaned the pads and rotors with break cleaner, greased the slider rods and put the break quiet on the back of the pads and it is no longer squeaking, for now. I had the dealer look at it last oil change and was quiet for about a day or so.

I'm at 53k miles (I said 58~k in another thread, I guess I was on something O_o) and I have about 2mm left on my rear. I don't know how much I have left on my front but I know I don't need to change them for a bit more.

At 25K, I'm at about 50% in front but almost time to replace the rears.
The electronic grandmother in the X utilizes the rear brakes quite a bit, so the rears go quicker than the fronts in the X model
