Winter tire and wheel come and TPMS ...

I am planning to get factory 17" wheels for my new g35xS (it came with 18's) and was wondering of I have to purchase TPMS sensors for them. If I do not, will the TMPS warning light will be displayed all the time? If I do get the sensors, do I have to calibrate them somehow or register with the TMPS systemn in the car?

I have no sensors in my winters. The light only comes on after about 45 minutes of highway driving (no buzzer) and stays on only until the car is shut off. I swap my own summer/winter tires at home, and when I put the summers back on in the spring the system works fine, no action required.
If you have a second set of sensors in your winters you'll have to get the system reprogrammed twice a year to recognize the different sensors in each set. I prefer to be without sensors for 4 months out of 12, it's really not a problem.

Thanks for the response...

To reprogram the sensors, would I have to go to the dealership or I can do it myself?

Somebody with hands on experience with the proper scanner tools should be able to answer whether this can be done DIY. Even if it can be done at home I'm not sure it would be worthwhile to purchase a scanner just for that, but if you had other uses for it, or access to someone else's scanner...
Otherwise the only option would be to go to a dealer.

I've posted a query on the Group Buy list to see whether others have an interest in purchasing scanners. Please respond there.
