Thumbs up Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum

Anyone have experience with the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum for the G35 18" Sport wheels? The prices are alot better than the Bridgestones and the reviews on tirerack.com seem to favor the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum . Let me know guys.

A few of us have them. It is too early to make judgements but so far so good. Ride is a little bumpy until the rubber heats up. Installer had no problems balancing them. Kumho is trying to break into the mainstream and have a lot riding on this new model, so it's probably a safe bet.

Do they have them in the 50 & 45 profiles for the staggered setup or did you go one size all around or a different size combo?

They have an impressive array of sizes for the LX Platinum. I'm sure you could go staggered. I actually am using them on my m45 rims and am going one size all around.

They have them in 225/50ZR18 and 245/45/ZR18 for the rear. The price is almost $300 cheaper than the Bridgstones that come OEM on the car.

Hi guys, sorry to bump an old thread but I recently got these tires and have been hearing slight howling sounds on the highway. I just got them installed yesterday and am trying to figure out if the tire needs to be broken in or if I need to take them back. Actually, I need to go back because the wheels are vibrating....dont think they balanced them properly so if this is normal then I wont bring it up with them.

Guys, what do you think about Pirelli PZero Nero 225/50/18 for our cars (I have G35x)?

At the place where I live, it is the only tire brand/model I can order in this size (currently running on Toyo Proxes 4 245/45/18, which are too wide for me). Kumho Ecsta Platinum LX will be avaible only at winter, does it worth to wait?

How are the Toyo Proxes 4? I was thinking about getting some on my car. Any problems? Road noise? Handling?

I do not recall any howling. The LX Plats are quiet. They are a little soft for my taste though and not befitting a sports sedan. I only have them on 2 wheels. The other two are Pilot Sport A/S Plus which are a lot better. In any case, you should pay the premium and get Hunter Roadforce balancing.

Good tyres, the only issue is that they are 245-wide - when the road is bad, 225-wide tyres handle better.

Between the inside wear issues and noise, it is hard to find the right tires for our cars. I am planning on getting these Kumho LX Platinums for the rear of my 04 Coupe with 17s. I have Hankook Ventus V4 H105s on the rear now but after 13,000 miles the noise is unbearable. There is still another 2-4,000 miles on them but I can't handle the noise. Handling is fine. How much softer are the sidewalls on the Platinums? I have RSAs on the front since new and are quiet and last 25,000 miles with proper swapping rotation from right to left. I am choosing the LX paltinums because I find assymetrical tires on our cars are quieter than directional and can be rotated left to right. I have my car for over 8 years and am still experimenting with tires. Any thoughts? Thanks all.
