TPMS Rebuild Kit - Discount Tire

What is the deal with this "option" from Discount Tire, anyone know?

They offered it to me, saying that without this my TPMS may leak out air.

If anyone knows, please let me know.

Thanks

Ask them what this "kit" contains. Rubber gasket with new valve stem core? How much are they charging?

well i just ordered tires from them, and wanted the valve stems (12 bucks i think 3/piece) and when the tires came in, it had the TPMS kit in there, instead of valve stems... I haven't mounted the tires yet, so i don't know if i need it...

they rebuilt my rears for free because im friends with the manager. over time the gaskets can leak so after 3 years, i didnt mind getting it done. if its cheap, go ahead.

Depending on the sensor is what determines the price. You should get the rebuild kit if the car is not brand new because the sensors do leak after some time. The rebuild kit comes with a valve core, valve cap, rubber grommet, and the nut that hold the sensor.

Discount didn't seem to have a problem with my TPMS when I had them put Falkens on. I'm fairly certain that they didn't give me any kit without asking me to pay for it. I've been running these tires for at least six months and I've had no leakage. I don't know if any of that helps you but it seems like a scam.

My car is only 9 months old, so i will use the old tpms stuff this time and next time i will get the rebuild kit.
