...hopefully it will raise awareness so that everyone stays safe

Like Wayne, I thought it was obvious, but I can now see how a mistake could be made.

good pics Wayne....
Just to carry this one step further;
The purpose of angle seat on the gen2 is only to guide the shank into the hole.
It is not a load bearing surface.
In those pics it looks like the angle is different too.

Seeing them side by side, again, can anybody explain why the nissan "shank" nuts have the same taper as the "conical" nuts, and how they seat differently? It almost looks like the shank could be used in place of the conical. [edit, posted at the same time as integr8r]
The only explaination I could think of is if the conical are hardened differently!

one other thing I noticed....
The lower edge of the cone is narrower/finer on the shank nut.
This would mean that it seats deeper into the wheel & likely less contact area.

Anoother very obvious thing. The 2nd gen lug nut tightens down on the wheel on top of that loose rotating washer. If you put it on a wheel not meant for it then this washer is left free to rattle around.
I could of told you huys this two years ago lol. When i installed my oem 18" g35 wheel locks on the m45 wheels, the wheel lock snapped clean in half, and the other lugs didnt seem to fit right. Thats how i learned they where different lug buts smh!

Safety Alert!
FWIW;
This is what can happen if you use the wrong lug nuts instead of the new OE shank style (see top OP pic).
.....tuner lugs ripped right through the wheel seats

So can someone post a link or a model number of exactly what is needed? I have over 25K miles on my M45 sport wheels and the guy at America's Tire (installers of wheels and tires) told me the lugs I had (from stock 17" wheels) were fine. Thanks for the help.
