have to change tires soon

I was at the dealership for regular service and they recommended changing all four tires. I only have 15k miles on mine. 08 g35 with sports package.

Can any one tell me what company should I go for and whats the best place to buy those? I want to spend as low as possible.

Thanks,
Harsha

I am looking for longer thread life and smooth ride. I feel that stock tires made lot of road noise.

Thank you.

First of all, did you take a look at the tires yourself? What does the "penny test" tell you? Maybe it's just me, but I hardly trust anything the dealership tells me (especially after one time they told me I needed to change my wiper blades because they were worn out BUT I had just replaced them literally two days before).

+1, the Falken FK452s is what a lot of people switch to. Less road noise, similar performance if not better and better tread life

I did not perform the penny test, but I can tell by looking at the tire that it lost most of its tread.

According to the dealer, who gave me this "inspection sheet" has the below data (but don`t know what it means)

Left Front: Tire Tread 4 32nds
Right Front: Tire Tread 4 32nds
Left Rear: Tire Tread 3 32nds
Right Rear: Tire Tread 3 32nds

Also they gave me a quote $1300+ to change all four tires. I think its for bridgestone potenzas

There are approximately 135,000 threads on tire selection I'm moving your question to the Tech sub-forum, if you search for "Tires" in there you'll find lots of info.

Just look through the threads. I ended up getting Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus's. Much better ride quality and tread life. They handle pretty darn good considering they are all season's. Of course I had to get non stock sizes since we don't have many choices in stock size.

I have the same tires too Virus. Although I changed the fronts to 235x45x18 and the rears to 255x40x18. I also had the Eibachs Pro Kit and Alignment Kit installed and am very satisfied with the ride.

Your tires came with 10/32 of an inch of tread depth. They can't be safely run to 1/32, and you have 3/32 on the rear, so it appears like the dealership gave you good advice. Expect to pay $1000 out the door for tires truly equivalent to OEM. Now, if you don't want equivalent tires, such as all-season tires, you can pay less.

Like the man said, search under 'tires'.

I also have a 07 with the 18" sport wheels. If you go up just one tire size to 235/50/18 fronts and 255/45/18 rears it opens up more brand possibilities. Tire Rack is currently selling Sumitomo HTR Z III's for $594 for a set of 4 in the above sizes. The Sumitomo's are currently rank#1 in Tire Rack's testing of max performance summer tires above the Bridgestone Potenza's, and at a much less expensive price.

And... whatever you do, check those tires yourself. There have been at least 2 instances when the service rep told me one thing, only to find out they're not even talking about my car. (Found out, both times, after i asked them to show me the problem).
