oh i got ya...dont you have an X? there are 2 guys on here i think with coilovers....i feel you on not wanting to do springs cuz of all the hassle and potential problems as well as a somewhat bouncy ride....however i am dropped on Eibachs and would never go back cuz these 2nd gen sedans look so damn good lowered

that sounds pretty good....

and to answer your question about spacers...
they will help the overall stance (looking at it from front or rear), but don't expect the wheel gap to change any.
