Has anyone else got recurring problems with their front rotors/brakes?
Just made 11k miles, and so far no problems with the S brakes.
That's what I'm planning to do. I'll just run the OEM rotors for a year and upgrade to 2pc ones at a later date. Hopefully by that time a few companies will have something for us to use.
What about a set of the OEM 19" Rays? Does anyone even make an affordable 19" snow tire (thank God I don't have snow here
)? If they do, just buy a set of curbed/hammered 19's for cheap, as they'll clear the 37 calipers easily.
I came very close to doing just that, but I have to deal with the lovely New England weather. I have a set of 17" Blizzaks that would never clear the calipers, so this was put on hold for now.
Maybe someday down the road, I'll find another winter setup that clears, but for now, I'm sticking with what I have.

Gotta get my wheels first though.

for winters, I wouldn't go 19s.
I'll look to pick up a set of 18" G37S wheels for that.
They aren't pretty, but they'll do for winter.
Then the other issue to deal with is the spare.
So at the present time, there is no 2 pc rotors for our cars?
The R1 concepts arent?
Also, what do you guys think of these EBC rotors:

Rotor; 3GD EBC Sport; Set of Two; Front; 12.6 in. Dia.;
Prevents Ribbing/Scoring Of Rotor Surface
Wide Aperture Slots Keep Pads And Rotors Cooler
Dimple Drilling Degasses Pads w/o Cracking
Ideal For Use w/EBC Upgrade Sport Pads
Anti-Corrosion Coating
Full Width Slots Ensure Flat and Parallel Wear
Eliminates Rotor Galling/Improves Brake Efficiency
Full Width Slots Expel Dirt/Dust/Water/Gases
Mfg Part Number: GD7218
Your Price: $291.25
Shipping Weight: 45.00 pounds
Would you guys go with EBC or R1 ? The R1 goes for about 200 while the EBC's go for 290.

Wes, I really liked Racing Brake rotors on my 04
They have OE replacements for your X
..read some the General rotor info there.
They make they're own, not just re-manufactured blanks from who knows where.

I don't know about 2pc rotors for our brakes.
I haven't looked into it, I was talking about 2pc rotors for the G37s Akebono BBK, which I haven't seen any yet.
Rotora makes a 1pc cross drilled rotor for the BBK but I'd rather wait and get the lighter 2pc kit. That way the BBK would maybe weigh less than our Sport brakes.

Although I'd like a Stoptech or Brembo set, I'm finding it harder and harder to justify the $3800+ price when the g37 complete kit is a little over $1500 shipped to me
I'm at 29,500 km and also recently noticed the shudder in the front when braking. I was going to try the brake pad re-bed procedure as Ian suggested to me but my mechanic said that's not a good idea.
After reading this thread I'm now seeing that there may be a fairly common rotor warping issue.
I can tell my dealer (who happens to be in Guelph and about an hour drive for me) but I don't want this to turn into a half dozen trips back and forth. I have a feeling they will suggest "turning the rotors", which I never agree with especially on a high end vehicle with low km's. I want new ones, not thinner ones. Don't they get weaker if you shave them?
Obviously I have to get this looked at very soon. How much should we push the issue, at the dealership, that warped rotors should be under warranty?

Try replacing your pads first. I had a bit of vibration on mine, but after i replaced the pads (OEM) before heading out to the track, the vibrations went away and hasn't come back since. The old pads were fairly worn.
My rear brake pads was replaced around 35,000km and all 4 of my rotors were turned.. :S
and yes, I had vibration when I was braking.
and oh yeah, I paid for having all rotors turned :S :S :S

There are no 2 pc rotors available for purchase, other than the ones included in aftermarket BBK kits. I, for one, don't understand why it's taking so long.
