Nice Write, but can you tell me the brand of aftermarket exhaust you have so that we can start a compatibility list for the M Brace?

Thanks.

For G35x owners...

Ian had a look under my car this past weekend, and he confirmed that we shouldnt have any problems running the 6pt brace along with the M brace (Disclaimer: At least from an educated perspective... nothing absolute; yet).

Just an FYI!

Hey Ian - In regards to the M brace:

" One tip for installing the 'M' and rear tie;
Since these use the rear toe & camber bolts to mount,
make a coupe of marks on the alignment cam, so that you get the alignment back where it was."

So if I installed the M Brace now, and dropped my car in the spring, I would have to remove the M brace, install the rear camber kit, then put the M brace back on, yes?

Also, is it possible with having the M Brace installed throw off your camber and toe from regular wear and tear of driving your car? As time goes on?

Im pretty certain now that I'll be making a trigger on the 6 pt and M brace... its just a matter of time now. Just doing my hw.

Oh yes, one more thing, how does this factor into the alignment as well?

Im not familiar with how cars are aligned so I dunno if the bolt mounts are touched at all. Thanks Ian.

The M brace is a non-issue re alignment etc.
...it's just for the initial install that you need the markings
Once it's mounted fugedaboudit.

I'm still waiting for M braces to come in from being backordered. But here is the recommendation on what to get first from GTSpec-Mark:

1. Rear M Shape Brace + Rear 2 Point Tie Brace
This will be the first 2 brace to get. These two braces tie the lateral arm and control arm together. These two braces act almost like a sway bar. We have tested the same braces on 350Z and the most effective brace so far.

2. Rear 6 point subframe brace
Because it's a bit pricey, that's why I list this brace as #2. If budget allow, this brace is a great addition. The brace link the rear subframe to the chassis. It added three extra reinforcement points per side. It's a 5 piece kit thus a higher price than rest of the braces.

3. Fender Brace
Fender brace ties the front engine compartment to your mid chassis. Known to be used on many track car, it provided extra reinforcement for the front of your car.

4. Front subframe tie brace 2/4 point.
I list this lower than the rest mainly because the front subframe are already very stiff. These two braces reinforce the existing mounting points. It still provide added reinforcement but not as much advantage compare to the rest of the braces.

5. Front subframe left + right tie brace
This brace is the last on the list because it's a significantly smaller brace compare to the rest. However, it does added two extra reinforcement points to the front subframe, but compare to the rest of the braces that's available, this brace has less effect."

I installed the M and rear tie. After I was done and took it for a ride, I noticed the car pulling badly to one side. It looks like my right rear toe is turned in. I went under again and the cams are all where I made marks. I noticed after loosening the bolts, there seems to be room for play for the end of the camber arm (while keeping my cam marks in the same spot). I can also turn the alignment bolt without any movement in the arm until I move it a lot. I don't get it... my marks are aligned and my alignment is fubar'd! Am I supposed to tighten things up while the car is loaded on ramps? HELP!

Dammit! I noticed that one of the raised part of the crossmember keeping the cam in place was crushed flat, so now that cam is free on that end. I used a pry bar to pull it out taut and tightened it. Don't know if I did the damage when I installed the camber arms or one of the places I had an alignment done at. I will probably still get it aligned just to make sure.

In any case, I can definitely say that with the 6pt-rear tie-M brace combo, the back end feels so solid!!!
