Really? I was under the assumption from another owner that they were a lot heavier than the stock ones (~6-10lbs per corner).

Unless my scale is just being nice in letting me think my new bbk is less weight it is true. I weighed them twice. I wasnt surprised the Akebono calipers were less because I believe they are aluminum or aluminum composite, I think the stock ones are cast iron. The rotors is what really threw me I thought the brake pros would be way heavier not so.

Pretty sure your scale is off.
The rotors are definitely heavier (larger), you should be able to feel the difference by hand.

...that's why we're so keen on finding a 2pc rotor for the front at least.

He said that he believes the fronts are 30lbs and the rears are 19lbs. The caliper weights don't shock me but I am shocked if the stock fronts are as much as the big ones.

You may not be, I have never weighed them in person. I have a set of 05' coupe brakes at my house and they are quite heavy.

Heck, my current brakes are very, very heavy.

I was under the impression that the majority of the weight difference between the g35s and g37s was the larger brakes

I heard and read that the major weight difference is between the engines, now the brakes it may be, but dont forget I purchased the brake pros rotors and not the ones that come on the G37S.

Hey also my original rotors are the 13" f & r on the G35S that probably makes a difference over the stock G35 which I think are 12.4 Front.

Oh yeah, I didn't even think of that! Never mind, my numbers were all based on the 1st gen V35 platforms.

Yes but the Akebono are 14" which is a significant additional mass.

FWIW, found on a rotor mfg web site;
OEM Akebono fr. rotor = 30.0 lbs.

Are they 2 piece rotors? Having aluminum hats make for additional weight savings.
