Since both are hollow, increase in diameter equates to an increase in stiffness.

^yup, that's one way.
I'm not positive, but I don't think that the diameter changes with Infiniti bars though.
Some aftermarket sways like Stillen reuse OE bushings & they fit all non X.

The other ways to modify sway bar torsional rigidity while maintaining diameter,
is by changing the tubing material, and/or the tubing wall thickness.

reposting my reply in a different thread where this issue came up:

If the springs and sways were different between Journey and Sport, they would have different part numbers. They don't.

Only X models have different part numbers for springs and sways.

This question has come up many times here and on other forums, and the consensus is that there is no difference in springs and sways on 2WD models.

Yes, i believe you are right on the springs. Journey and sport have one set and AWD have another. But im curious about sways then. I know the fronts are different on the X and journey/sport, but what about the rear?

Im still looking for a set of journey/sport springs btw!
