Tire options for the G37 coupe wheels

Tire options for the G37 coupe wheels

So i'm getting to the end of the life on my tires and am looking at more options. There's not much in the way of stock sizes (225/45-19 and 245/40-19).

I'm looking at moving up to 245-40/19 and 275-35/19. There's a set of Hankooks and Kumhos I'm looking at ($100 less per tire than the stock sized Potenzas). I just want to make sure 275s clear the sedans, I'm pretty sure i've been reading that 275 is about as much as they can take.

What do y'all think? Are these sizes reasonable for the rims, or should I look at maybe a 265 rear or what?

Any info is helpful - I justt want to make sure I'm not making a huge mistake.

and I want directional so I can flip the tires midway through the life - I've got some nasty camber wear for a non-dropped car

Yea man! the 275 TIre for the rear will fit the Sedans! Got a frnd who has them on his sedan, and it fits no probs! I want to upgrade my tires on my Coupe rims too. but the Potenza's are big $$! and my tires i have on are still like new! Maybe if I find a buyer, i can change um. LOL.

I originally had the FK452's in the sizes you posted, but they only lasted 12k miles . I got the Hankook ventus v12's now and I'll let you know how they are once they break in

Right off the bat, the v12's are a way quieter tire than the falkens. Between the two you posted, get the v12s. The spt is a good tire for the price but can't compare to the v12 (I had the spt on my old car)

also, the 245 and 275 is the largest you should run. I've seen guys run 255/285 but the speedo will be off if you do

AJ, i have the Ventus V12 and like it so far. I haven't gone to the track since i put it on so i can't comment on how it is versus the FK452 (which were fine). Then again, knowing you this set of tires will be for DD, right?

As long as your rim is wide enough to support it, the 275 should work fine. I'm running 255 on 8.5" wheels, the max it will safely support.

I'm looking to pick up the same sizes....
I haven't decided yet, but I'm waffling between Yoko S.Drives & V12s.

Ian, did you read that Car and Driver test article? The S drives didn't do too well

Ya, I only wish they tested the Falkens on that test too to get their comparo on it.

However, at the price you can get them for (even cheaper than the Kumhos), they're VERY hard to beat.

Initial steering turn in seems better on the v12 than the fk452s.

I have to agree, although i only have 4k on it, it does feel like a great tire. And the quietness is certainly noticeable. With the 452s, even when new, i couldn't hear past the road noise. Now, i hear the drone of the engine/intake --- which is a good thing in my eyes, or ears as the case may be.

Ya Mike, the difference in quietness is very noticable. I believe it's due to the larger edge blocks on the 452 versus the v12

Also, it "seems" as though the sidewall on the v12 is a bit softer than the fk's, but I have to do more "evaluating" to be sure about it lol.

Cornering grip seems about the same, maybe a slight edge to the fk over the v12.

Braking on the dry, the advantage easily goes to the v12. No rain here yet to test the wet braking.

Overall, I'm very happy with them so far. Damn, us yobo's make some good tires, no?
