its about that time to test out the S springs on the X. Looking to see if anyone has any tips to help with the install.

The bolt circled in step 5 is a PITA to remove, i still haven't managed to get mine out after 3 tries. Next try will be with two wrenches on either end, and drenching the whole thing with PB Blaster for a few minutes.

yikes...i dont like to hear that
Based on some tips i've gathered and various other how-to's, it should be fairly easy if you also take the sway bar off, then place a jack underneath to relieve pressure off of the bolt. That's one thing i'll be trying for try # 4

I've changed springs a few times, it was a Piece of cake.
Use a jack under the wheel hub to neutralize pressure (no need to remove sw.bar)
That lower mount bolt doesn't have to be completely removed.
After the nut is off just tap it back as far as the sway bar link will allow.
Then slip the lower mount off first before dropping it down from the top mount. (leave one nut on loose up top).
Some people have had trouble with the shaft of the lower mount spinning & not being able to get the nut off.
On the opposite side (sw.bar link side) slide the rubber boot back.
There is a hidden nut on the shaft to slide an open end spanner on & hold it.
Watch the brake lines & ABS sensor cable when removing it.

Get a decent strut-spring compressor. I've found that the Autozone rent-a-tool one is okay and gets the job done, but seeing it bend like it does freaks me out. Stay away from the Harbor Freight one, i've seen one too many cases of those breaking in half or the threads stripping. I have the Craftsman and it's pretty sturdy.
