Can there really be enough photos around here?

Nice job guys.
I have the same feeling about it myself, it surely doesn't look like much of a 2-pc, but seeing as i opted for blanks instead (but would hold up production if i persisted) i'm probably not a good judge of that. Besides, 9 lbs of weight savings is a good enough compromise for me.

Great pics, Mike. Thanks for posting. When do you plan to install them? I'll have my calipers back from the powder coaters on Monday, so hopefully I'll have my installed within the next week.

I think they look really nice. Not a whole lot you can do to make a rotor look better. LOL What else would you change about them? Color?

No prob. Thank you, as well! I've been holding off on installing for some time now, so i'll try to tackle it this weekend. Although, i was really hoping to do a B/A test at the track between the OEM rotor and this, as well as the standard "S" brakes.

What color did you go with?

It's a secret

That'd be awesome to do a before and after track review! Do it!!

Just curious... what pads are you planning on running with the new rotors? Also, did you get stainless lines too?

Can't wait to see how yours turn out!

I want to powdercoat mine black.. but just can't justify spending the money to have it done.

pssh... secrets. The track i go to is booked the same days i can get time off. I do have numbers for the S from last year, but it's been too long to make a valid comparison. Yep, i caved in and got ss-lines. For daily i'm using the OEM pads, but for track i'm not sure yet, i was hoping for Carbotech's, but the only pads RB recommends from them are the XP10+ which is overkill for my skill level. I might run the OEM's on the track and see how that turns out, though, it's not an overly technical one to begin with.

Those turned out nice!

Hmmm.. wonder if I could paint and be finished before next Monday (day I took off work to install). I'd have to get the decals too.

Yeah, those turned out great, Mike... Love that color!

I ended up getting mine powder coated pearl white with the Akebono logo in black (just found out that they shipped back to me today... WooHoo!!). I really wanted to do them myself, but I just don't have the time or patience (or talent LOL) to do them correctly. I will however install them myself, but that's fun for me.

I got the Racing Brake sst lines, as well, plus some Hawk HPS pads per Mike's (at Racing Brake) recommendation, so this should be a night and day difference between these and my stock '08 G35S brakes!

Thanks

If you use the High Heat version of the paint (vs. the Engine Enamel, lower heat ratings, what i used) you can do it in a day since the curing can be done in your oven

Thanks Truth be told, it's only blue because my plates are blue.

White? Me likey, those should look great behind your wheels! Are you pc'ing the hats, too, or leaving them black?

I'm still not sure how I'm gonna like the white, but we'll see... I was originally going to get them pc'ed a really dark gunmetal, similar to what's on my wheels, but everyone said that it would look too close to the stock Nissan Akebono's, so I ended up doing a complete 180 and doing them in pearl white... I'm a little worried about keeping them clean, but with the GT-30 wheel design it's pretty easy to clean the calipers when I wash the car. I opted not to PC the hats to match. For one, I was affraid that they would get too dirty and they'd be too hard to clean, and also most people recommended against it, as the rotor can get much hotter than the caliper and I've heard stories of powder coating and paint peeling off rotors from the heat. I just decided to stick with Racing Brakes special EDP plating finish that they use, since I know it will hold up well.

Here's a pic from Mike at ThePowderCoater.com of the Alebono caliper in pearl white:
