Two piece rotors for Akebono are in - pix

Hey guys. Just wanted to send everyone an update on the front rotors since Racing Brake can't post on here anymore.

Anyway, Racing Brake received the first 3 sets of production front rotors last Friday. I'm headed over to there this afternoon to have them test fitted on my car. If all goes well they will be able to ship out the first 3 sets of rotors to the first 3 people on the group buy tomorrow. The remaining people will receive their rotors when Racing Brake receives their next shipment. I will try to get a firm date for this shipment from them when I am there today. I will also talk to them and see what their plans are to have matching rear rotors made.

Look for an update either later today or tomorrow!

Mine's already on the way

By the way, on my earlier comments about the pad warning. RB still stands by it, but it's for racing applications only. They also mentioned it's not necessary to resurface the rotors when switching between daily and race pads, so long as they're bedded-in properly.

Ok guys. Here's the official update on the new RacingBrake front rotors.

We test fit the first production units yesterday and everything worked out perfectly. The rotors look beautiful and the fit was perfect. As I mentioned before, they only received 3 sets of rotors on this first shipment, so they will be shipping out the other 2 sets to the next 2 people on the pre-order list today. The remaining people will receive their's as soon as RacingBrake gets their next shipment.

Thanks again to Mike for making this happen... Now we need matching rears!!!

FYI... I haven't weighed mine yet, but Mike tells me that these came in at a little over 20 lbs each, so not quite as light as the 19 lb target weight, but they are still almost 10 lbs lighter than the stock sport rotors!

Here are some pics of the rotors installed. The first pic is a before pic with the stock brakes and all the other pics are with the new RacingBrake 2-pc rotors with the Akebono calipers.

interesting how the crossdrill is in the slot. I suppose its cause they aren't channeled to the edge.

I was wondering that, too. The slot 'sweep' seems to be in the wrong direction...are they on the wrong side(s)?

Look great, though.

I wouldn't worry much about the direction of the slots, it's what's inside that matters. Look at the angle of the vanes in this picture and it'll explain why.

And just a word of caution for those that will be using these rotors on the track.
