It might be time for me to get new tires on my 2007 G35S. I would like some feedback on what other G35 drivers are using for tires. I am interested in the following brands:

Toyo Proxes 4 ( I know these are not summer tires, but I hear they are very good)
Nitto (whatever model fits the staggered sizes on the S model).
Bridgestone Potenza RE960 (as opposed to the original RE050 that comes with the car)

Those are the three I am looking at. However, if you have other information and input about the tires currently on your car, please feel free to give me feedback. Thanks.

tirerack.com has reviews on all the tires they sell. only thing they dont sell nittos. i just bought the nitto nt555 which isnt mounted yet. they're an oldie but goodie!

Yes, I checked there. They do not sell Nittos nor Toyo tires.

What I want is real feedback from drivers of our cars specifically.

What is it like going from the OEM Bridgestone (summer tire) to the Toyo Proxes 4 (all-season tire)?

Does the handling change dramatically? Does the car rider softer or harder?

I have Michelin PS2s and love them. Ride is nice, handling is excellent and they are really quiet for a performance tires. The Nitto 555s I had on the G before were really noisy and a harsher ride.

I have Falken FK 452's- great handling, smooth ride on the highways, excellent grip on hard cornering. No problem in the rain either. For the money, the best value IMO for OEM Bridgestone replacement on sport models.

Hankook ventus v12 evo's are pretty affordable and they scored 2nd in a test when compared to the benchmark ps2's as well, you should check them out.

I have the Nitto Invos and I love them. the traction and tread wear is amazing. There is slight noise at higher speeds but its solid as a rock. Great performance in rain too! These tires are not meant for cold weather/winter though.

I had Goodyear Eagle F1, they are good and looks cool. Now I have Michelin Pilot Sport 2, handling and grip are really better than Goodyear.

My next tires will be PS2's. I currently have Hankook's and they're not bad compared to OEM, just have a soft sidewall which I don't like.

^ so with the soft sidewall, do you feel it takes time for the tire to respond upon turn in...or is it good grip but with a sloppier feel?

The response is not bad, but it just feels sloppy compared to the stock Potenza's, so it doesn't feel as stable and sharp as the stock tires.

I have the Hankook V12 Evos on my 19" G37 coupe wheels. Although the sidewall is pretty soft (less driving feedback) compared to the FK452s that I had, they grip like a mother fxxxxx. It's just hard to tell when the rear is gonna let go when you push them.

Other than that, I'd say these are excellent daily tires. Very comfortable, quiet, and good tread life (although they look like softer compounds than comparable tires from other brands). If not, you can always go with Falken FK452s or other similar tires.

From the three you've mentioned, I'd go with the Bridgestone. They might be little pricier than others, but they worth every penny when it comes to all weather performance.

PS2s are still considered one of the baddest tires you can buy despite how old their designs are. I'm pretty sure you'll be more than happy with those on your G..., but not on your wallet.

My friend had INVOs and spun on freeway at 70MPH when he had a mild hydroplane on the driver side with his G37 coupe. His car ended up getting 15+k in damage which the insurance company covered. After the incident, he chose to go with the Dunlop Sport Maxx GTs which is comparable to OE RE050As. So far with the recent heavy rains, he says he feels much safer with the Dunlops than the Nittos.

Don't get me wrong tho', I love the Nitto NT05s and NT01s although I would never run them while raining tho'... haha

I had a very large screw in my rear tire, located in the one spot they could not fix. This required that I speed up my decision, and I got it down to the Toyo Proxes 4 and the OEM Bridegstone Potenza RE050A.

I chose to stick with the familiar and went with the Bridgestones. It helped that they were in stock and I did not have to wait.

At least with these tires, I know what to expect. Next time, assuming a damn screw does not change my plans, I will do more research and decide on a tire when these Bridgestones wear out.
