Brake upgrades for '07 G35X?
I am considering an 07 G35X as G35s' are hard to come by. However I understand that brakes are an issue on the G35x.
I have considered the Akebono upgrade, however it is my understanding that the stock G35X wheels won't work. What non-staggered 18" Infiniti or 350Z wheels will work, or what size and offset aftermarket wheel would be required to run the Akebono on the G35X? Since I may autocross the car, I have concerns about the Akebono setup after reading about the Car and Driver experience with these, and also a members experience with fade while bedding in the Akebonos. I also have concerns about the weight of the Akebono rotors. Are there any two piece rotors for the Akebono that might be lighter and perhaps have better cooling?
Other than the Akebono conversion, is there another BBK that will work with the G35X? Again, what size wheels would be required. Can the Brembo's from the earlier cars be fitted to the 07 G35X. I have Brembos on my V70R and love them.
Other than BBK, are there any rotor/pad combinations that have been found to work really well in the G35X?
Thanks in advance for any recommendations. I have to decide soon whether to get the G35X or continue looking for a G35S. I am working overtime at work so my research time is limited.

Not sure how much of an issue the brakes are on the X, but i've read of several Journey and Sport drivers who run their cars on the road course, me included, who have had no issues with the OEM brakes at all. Granted, i now have the Akebono's.
For sure the 350z Anniversary edition 5-spokes will fit over the Akebono's. There are also a lot of options available through Discount Tire Direct and Tirerack (Tirerack sells them as "Winter Wheels", so you need to look there, it won't show up under the standard search for G37S coupe wheels, but a couple do show up if you search for G37S sedan 18's).
What type of AutoX courses do you run? Most i'm familiar with are rather slow (compared to a road course) and doesn't last more than a minute or two. I seriously doubt you'll get the brakes hot enough.
As for the fading while bedding in, it depends on what kind of pads were used. But generally, new pads will experience green fade. A lot of people make the mistake of bedding in their OEM pads the same way one would a higher peformance pad, so it will fade after a while.
You can go with other aftermarket BBK's such as StopTech or even Brembo's GT. If you'll peruse our vendor section, you'll find quite a selection. If you want just something better than the standard X brakes, but don't want to deal with wheel fitment issues, get the early 2nd gen "S" calipers and rotors.
For wheel sizing/fitment, i suggest getting hold of Coz/CZP's template (vendor section) and using it on the wheels you have in mind. Other than those who've already tried and tested it on certain wheels, there's no surefire way of knowing if a particular wheel design, offset or size will fit over the Akebono's.
