Coil Over Installation Price

Curry's Auto Service in NoVA is quoting me $800 for the install and alignment. Is this a decent price, seems expensive? I know they do good work though. I have seen Ferraris and exotics there.

Seems pretty expensive to me. Typical springs/shocks install usually costs around $200-$250 and from what I've heard, the coilover installation is a bit simpler. Alignment shouldn't be more than around $80.

i got mine done at a place that works on Porsches all the time.
Anyway, when doing a CO install they insist on corner balancing AND alignment, all for $640

That's way too expensive. I wouldn't pay more than 200ish plus 60 for an alignment. They're pretty much just like installing springs

Function Tuned is 9 miles from my house. Dave quoted me $400. I think I will use them since they specialize in Gs and Zs.

Unless you plan on tracking the car on a consistent basis, I personally don't see the need to corner balance the car.

640 is ridiculous. I won't even address the 800 dollar amount

$800 is a out of the A$$ price. You do know the coilovers cost that much too right. You should not anymore than $300 for installation, ride height change (if you dont like where its at), and alignment. go somewhere else and save a **** load of money

I'll gladly pay premium for best service available, I don't need Simple Jack tinkering around. I've had my share of bad experiences at cheaper places..

I agree 100%.

However, I'm confident that you can find a shop much cheaper than that that's still reputable for quality service and installation. They can't be the only game in town you trust.

With a lift and power tools, it's easily an hour job. Two hours max, if you're moving really slow. My friend and I did it at his shop, on jacks no less (his lift hadn't arrived at the time), in 2 hours. That was with me taking pictures for the DIY to boot. And with his normal telephone calls/breaks.

So, a "guesstimated" breakdown of that $640 figure is:

Corner balancing, maybe $200 (at most), still unnecessary IMO. Regular alignment is under $100 easily.
That leaves $440 for installation, which for a 2 hour max job is $220/hr If you figure on the 1 hr time, that's plain silly.

You have to agree that's crazy bro. Infiniti's shop time is probably 80-100/hr.

$200 install and $60 alignment is what they charge here.
