new kumho shoes installed

I just got kumho ecsta tires installed on my 2008 G35S. Texas Nissan has a good deal for $5 over cost for the tires and $5 for mount and balance of each tire. Total price was $705. Discount tire quoted me $800. So far, car rides real nice. I wanted an all season tire this time instead of the Bridgestone summer tires.

That's a nice deal. How is the grip compared to the potenza's. Just a suggestion, but if you looked around in the marketplace you would've gotten "like" new tires for like $400

nice. i just got new shoes too (for my '08 G35x): Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. Tirerack was offering a $70 gift card with the purchase of four, so I went ahead and ordered them. They feel great.

Thanks. Compared to the stock bridgestones, the ride is quieter and not as harsh. I'm willing to give up some dry traction for a better ride and better handling in bad weather. I initially wanted michelin pilots, but michelin just doesn't make that tire for the front (225/50/18).

New shoes

I have Dunlap super max on my 08 G35xS . Iwill need tires before winter .I'm looking at the Dunlaps but Sam's Club they will run $900 +The Kumho's look good are they quiet How's the grip I never push the G but since it's so well balanced it never feels pushed I inderstand how important the tires are. My buddies who drive MB & BMW say I should stick with the dunlaps

Kumhos are a great tire, I'm on my second set on my vette and they stick like crazy. Have PS2s on the G, but may switch to Kumhos when they wear out. Much cheaper than the PS2s.

Thumbs up

Hey, that's funny, I just got my new Kumho Ecsta LX Platinums installed on my 07 G35S this past Friday as well! Got mine for ~$750 installed through tirerack. I agree, way smoother/quieter ride and should definitely last a while!

I've had nothing but problems with my Kuhmo's Ecsta Platinum from tirerack.
They took 2 of them back because they wouldn't balance, and the roadforce machine said they were out of spec.
I now had to have all 4 balanced again and the 2 rears are on the very edge of being out of spec.
I also get a whop noise while driving at slow speeds on smooth pavement, like one of them has a flat spot but can't seem to put a finger on which tire it actually is.
Never again!!!!

Just to add to the LX Platinum feedback... these tires feel soft when cornering and in wet, just do not stick! When cold, they definitely seem like they have flat spots as they are choppy until they warm up. I will do Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus next time--those are awesome tires even though they are 30% more money.

I wanted michelin pilot's, but they don't make that in the front tire size (225/50/18). Michelin just released the Primacy MXM4 for that size, but they don't make it in the rear size of 245/45/18. I did see another G35S with pilots on. He mounted 245/45/18 on the front. I wonder how that worked out.

Why is everyone going with teh LX Platinum tire? Isn't the Ecsta ASX a better performance option, especially for those not using them on the AWD? I know they don't come in the 225/50 size, but you can go with 245/45 as well.

I am looking at tires now and didn't consider the LX Platinum but I am looking at the ASX.

To me the main draw with the LX Platinum: decent performance, comfy ride, quiet (at least for now), not a lot of coin, high treadwear rating.

I've had mine for a while and they've been great. Quiet, nice cornering, etc.
