Need help lifting
I looked through a couple threads on the subject but really didn't get any clear answers so I made a thread.
I want to change my brakes but the jack I bought won't fit under the front end.
I tried getting it on 2x4s but I still had no room to lift the handle on the jack. Then I see this thread about a nissan pad or a hockey puck to prevent frame damage.
I am just so lost at this point...
I want to change my brakes before I go on a 300 mile trip this weekend. If I need to order something, Ill go to tire kingdom to get it done due to the lack of time. I wanna know for future reference though.
So whats the deal, do i need to get a new jack? Or is there a safe method I can use. I really don't wanna do any damage so is it worth just waiting till I can get my hands on a nissan lifting pad?
-thanks

i just use a standard hydraulic jack that has the circular lifter with cutouts that fits almost perfectly around the jack pinch points(the area between the two cutouts on each side on the lower frame) without any fancy pad or puck and if you do it right and slow enough you will have no frame damage(but do so on your own risk ), i have been doing this forever for oil, brake, tire etc changes.
Hope this helps

object is to get your car high enough to get your jack underneath.
drive all the way up the ramp then jack up your ride. when done slide ramps back under.
or
use factory jack to lift, then slide your jack under frame and use that as a lifting point.
best and easiest way are ramps.
yes, use the hockey puck.
