Talking Brake Job time! Recommendations on pads?

Its time for a rear brake job. What pads are people using that don't squeal? Also, where is a good source online to purchase them? Thanks!

Check the brake section, there's tons of threads on this. I have StopTech street performance rear pads, and they deposit a ton of brake dust onto my wheels. I'm sticking with ceramics next time. The initial bite it great tho.

Hawk Ceramics are great. Performance about OE level. Very smooth and minimal dust. Bought them at tirerack just because I trust them to send me the right part--and if it doesn't, they will allow returns with no problems.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
Check the vendors in the Marketplace. I got a set of Hawk HPS pads shipped earlier in the year for $99 shipped to my door. That was for F/R and I PM'd a few vendors for pricing as most will price match.

Just over 50,000 miles. They squeak a little on when reversing but dealer said its time to have it done. So, instead of paying the $350+ for the rear brake job its a DIY project. Our local NAPA parts store will turn the rotors for $20/each side so its looks like a $100 project.

That's pretty good mileage, I hope to change out in the not too distant future, ceramic to reduce brake dust!

yeah i got 45k miles out of my rear. my fronts were resurfaced/ and new pads under warranty by dealer. But after one year of the new pads from the dealer on the front they squeak at 10mph's or lower which is annoying. i got Akebonos for the rear brakes, which i did last week they are ceramic, bite well, no noise at all, and very low brake dust! ceramic FTW.

I did the rear pads yesterday and since it was a last minute job I picked up a set from Napa. Napa auto parts has the Adaptive One Hybrid Ceramic disc that were $56 bucks and had Checkers turn the two rear rotors for $15 each. Total cost for this DIY'er was about $90 bucks with a can of brake cleaner. Pads definitely feel more grippy but time will tell as I need to bed these pads for 400-500 miles. Sure beats paying the dealer $350+ for the brake job.

==Marketing jargon below on the pads==
Adaptive One® Hybrid Ceramic Disc Brake Pads are unlike any brake pad on the market today because the inboard and outboard pad in each set has its’ own specially engineered friction material. This unique formulation provides long-lasting, dust-free, quiet performance that’s seemingly tailored to each driver’s style with coverage focused on passenger cars and light trucks & SUV’s.

Unlike traditional brake pads with matching friction that typically involve tradeoffs when it comes to stopping power, low noise and dusting, Adaptive One’s inboard pad is specially formulated for optimal stopping performance, while its outboard pad is specially formulated to reduce noise and dusting. Adaptive One’s unique formulation for the inboard and outboard pads combine the best attributes of stopping power, noise abatement and low dusting, without sacrificing performance.

Each Adaptive One® disc brake pad is specifically designed to react differently during the stop by supplying the appropriate levels of stopping performance. So whether the pads are hot or cold, or the driver is aggressive or conservative behind the wheel, Adaptive Oneâ provides consistent pedal feel with the best possible combination of stopping power, noise abatement and low dusting qualities.

Helping to provide Adaptive One® with a safe and ultra-quiet braking experience is the NRS Noise Abatement System from NUCAP Industries. This patented technology projects teeth (or hooks) from the disc plate into the friction material, locking the two components together and eliminating any chance of edge lift and pad shear between the disc plate and friction — a key design element in providing safe and quiet braking performance.

I just installed front brake pads, Posi Quiet Extended Wear, with slotted rotors form R1 Concepts. I had some shake when breaking so I decided to replace them with something other than OEM. I still have to replace the rears, but I only had enough time last night to do the fronts. I don't know what type of crap I had on before this, but talk about a night and day difference. These things grip like crazy in comparison. Since I just installed them I don't know how well they will perform over time, but judging by other reviews of these pads, I'm assuming that I won't have to replace my brakes again for at least 40K. I will post another review of them after I put some miles on them.

By the way, I paid less than $300 for all four slotted rotors and pads, shipped.
