Long story short, the end result is a warped rotor feel.

I've had Nissan's for most of my driving life and it almost always goes back to the pads being the culprit.

YMMV, of course
I've also considered this but I've had problems even after changing pads to a different brand and material.

Whenever I went to the dealer for warped rotors, they tried whacking me $350 per axle for pads which was always a little too rich for my blood. They agreed that I could do my own pads and they would then do the rotors. This saved my $300 per axle and allowed me to try new brands.

My latest (and last) visit to the dealer for warped rotors was a difficult one. They told me that they would no longer warranty my brakes because I had non-OEM pads on my car... and they were most likely the cause of my problems. This is where I caught them in their own game.

I reminded them why I had to do my own pads. I asked why I needed to replace my pads at their cost of $350 per axle when the Brake Judder TSB clearly states that they should be repairing or replacing the rotors, installing front splash shields, and replacing the pads if worn.
Once they knew that I was on to them charging for pads that are supposed to be covered, they did the work for free.

I think the issue is caused by a poor rotor design and cheap production costs. The rotors do not manage the heat well and warm/cool unevenly. Over time, especially under heavy driving conditions, they warp. Once these are spent, I'll be moving onto a better rotor. That should take care of the problems.

To the OP, you are aware that in order to have Navigation, it cannot be a base car, it has to be a Journey with Premium Package or a Sport? Since most of the cars out there are non-premium cars, they couldn't have had Navigation as a stand-alone option.

So if you 'give' on the necessity of Navigation, think twice before 'giving' on the premium package - I don't think you'd like driving a base car or a base journey, either.

I already have Centric premium blanks and Bendix C3 pads all around waiting to be put on to replace my all-OEM setup, hopefully by the winter's end. OEM front rotors have been cut twice due to warpage/uneven pad material transfer and the OEM pads are noisy/squeaky.

Can anyone give me some advice on this regarding the current G35 I drive? I know this is meant for 07's but while we are on the subject I figured I'd ask.

I posted about this earlier in this thread:

04 G35 w/ 60,000 miles.

At 54,000 miles Infiniti:
-replaced rear pads and machine rotors $204
-parts $75
-replace front pads and replace front rotors $204
-parts: disc brake $75
-parts: rotor disc brake $269

TOTAL: 827 + tax.

Now on a daily basis I get loud squeeking. The brakes work fine but the squeeking is really annoying.

Is there any chance they will fix this problem for free? Or are they going to charge me for it?

Personally I think its ridiculous that 6,000 miles later they are already squeeking.

The dealership is a bit away and I know I'll be sitting there for hours so if we don't think they will fix for free I might as well find another solution.

What do you guys think?

Thanks.

They should fix it for free, take ur receipt that shows you payed an outrages $850 for brakes and ur having some problems only after 6k miles which is nothing for new rotors and pads, all it should be is that they need to apply some brake lube behind the pads which should be done for free for someone who actually went to the dealership to get their brakes fixed.

In fact since u are a bit far from them, when u call for an appointment be firm yet polite and make sure you tell em that you had this brake service done for almost $900 by them and the brakes have been squealing ever since but you decided to wait and let the brakes settle in to allow the squealing to stop but it just hasnt gone away and you are now looking for them to re-look into the situation for no extra cost to you since u are not satisfied with the work they did. Should be a $1 fix if its just some lube that it requires.

Thanks for the advice. After reading over the receipt I also saw that it is under warranty for 12months/12k so it should be a no brainer.

Now that I'm the one taking care of his car, after this situation is fixed we are done with going to the Dealership. My grandfather didn't know any better. You should of seen my face when I went over the thousands of dollars in receipts he has spent there.

^ that explains a lot, i was more than just shocked to hear the price they charged you but didnt want you to feel bad about it thinking you were the one who decided to go through the dealer. Once this is done just DIY or make a relationship with a local mechanic who should charge you between $40-80(depending on area, workshop and ur relation with em) for labor if you bring ur own pads.

Ya, thats my plan for sure after I get the dealership to fix for free.

Optimally I'd like to find another G35'er in the LA area who can show me the ropes, I'd love to do it myself, if not I'll just have to try to find a local mechanic.

There are DIY videos on youtube for a full brake job for the G coupes and a couple are really detailed and is as good as seeing a mechanic do it live, check em out and you'll see how easy this really is.
