brake pad thickness?

Guys, my 08 g35x had the parking brake light come on under acceleration, and from what I read on these forums its due to either worn pads or brake fluid being needed.

My question is, what are the correct thickness of the pads before it warrants a replacement? I was reading the repair and service record of my car (bought it used cpo) it states that the dealer replaced the rear pads and cut the rotor before I bought the car. After the replacement, the front pads had 6mm and rear was at 3mm left. Why would the rear pads be at 3mm if it was replaced?? Shouldn't it be thicker than the front pads?

Since then, I only put on an additional 5k miles.....and i don't know if that's enough to wear out the pads and cause the parking brake light to come on while accelerating.

Funny thing is, the brake fluid level was between min and max... it looked normal. was yours low or you added more fluid anyway?

As the pads wear down more fluid is required to squeeze the caliper to make up the difference in thickness of pad (if that makes sense).

Alot of times if you need to add fluid that is a sign that you are on the last leg for your brake pads. 3mm is definitely not new pad thickness. Someone correct me if I am wrong here, but once you get to about 2mm you should replace...

I think the rear new thickness is 8mm and the new front is 11mm. At least that what i sort of remember from when i bought the pad kit a year and a half ago.l
