Recommendation on Rotors??
Front ones are easy, there is a DIY somewhere on this forum, but you really don't need it if you have done a brake job before. There is also a good video on youtube on how to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgA7N87Pozw The rears on the other hand are PITA, because of the brake shoes for the parking brake. There is a youtube video for that as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ7yUDI5pio&NR=1

If they are just supposed to show a quick and dirty way to "get by" on a starving student's budget, then I get it (sort of), but should they portend to be demonstrating proper technique, then I'm extremely disappointed.
In the first one, setting aside the glaring fact that he replaces the pads without resurfacing the rotors (cheap shortcut), he also totally neglects to clean and re-lube the glide pins; another important part of a proper brake job. Either of these can lead to premature brake replacement in the future.
In the second video . . . WTF
. . . you'd think this guy was working on an old greasy farm truck or something. First, he hangs the caliper by the brake line, then he bleeds (or probably lets air in) the caliper just to compress the piston (at least the guy in the first video got that part right). Slops fluid all over his caliper paint, you know, that same paint he 'protected' with a piece of sheet metal
. Handles his new rotor and pad surfaces directly with his greasy, grimey, brake fluidy hands and never even wipes them off. Sticks his head under the fenderwell without a jackstand anywhere in site. Apparently doesn't understand how to make a simple 5-point star pattern when re-tightening lugs. I'm guessing he doesn't own a torque wrench either. There's probably more, but hopefully you get the idea. (I know,I know, I'm being an a**hole, but people look to this stuff for instruction
)
