Recommendation on Rotors??

Hi and thanks to those who helped me with the rims few months back

My dealer wants to charge me some retarded amount to resurface my rotor, so I was thinking of purchasing an aftermarket rotor and pads (since I also heard that Infiniti/Nissan stock rotors are known to wear out faster than other brands).

Any recommendation on rotors??? Or should I just pay like $1000 to the stealership to do their job and drive 20,000 miles and see it wear out?

R1 Concepts, I purchased them for all four corners and am very pleased with them. The price I paid for all 4 rotors and pads delivered to my door was under $400. I went with the slotted rotors and Posi Quiet pads, because I do not take my car to the track. I do however do some spirited driving once in a while. Your other options are going to a local auto parts store, or visiting some more known places on the internet, like tirerack.com

A little bit of advice is whatever you do, purchase some high temp paint and apply it to the rotors prior to installation. I found some clear high temp paint at my local auto parts store and sprayed my rotors, not the contact surface, and its holding up well after over a year of use. There are other applications of this concept on this forum. Good luck.

I almost ordered the premiums from r1concepts, except if you search around everyone says you have to paint them to prevent the rusting. Several people who ordered from ocautosports said they have had no rusting and no need to paint, so I went with those. They are cheaper than r1 by a lot as well. I am waiting for mine to come in:

http://www.ocautosports.com/ShowItem...%20Rotors.aspx

I googled around and found a coupon code 'FIFTEEN' that knocks 15% off, so the fronts for mine ended up being around 168 shipped.

I will definitely post feedback after I get them installed.

Anyone have a good link for a DIY for replacing front rotors + pads? I think pads are easy, I am assuming quite a bit more work to get the rotors off tho.

update, that's for cross drilled + slotted rotors, I think blanks are cheaper

Front ones are easy, there is a DIY somewhere on this forum, but you really don't need it if you have done a brake job before. There is also a good video on youtube on how to do it.
The rears on the other hand are PITA, because of the brake shoes for the parking brake. There is a youtube video for that as well.

So am I crazy or:

A) did he hang the caliper from the brake line which is a big no no?
B) there didn't seem to be any extra effort due to the brake shoes?

I need to do this for the first time in a few weeks.

Any suggestions for rotors and pads that can be purchased online in Canada? R1 won't ship here.

EDIT: Scratch that, found a vendor with many brands. Does anyone have an opinion on any of these brands?

I just bought front and rear rotors and pads from Brakemotive on ebay. I searched for many many hours and found reviews on many different forums that were all positive. Not to mention they have 51 thousand positive reviews on ebay.

Also the pads they send with them are powerstop z16s which are pretty well reviewed as well. I got all four rotors and pads for 227 shipped....drilled and slotted for the Sport model.

I'll post a review after I get them on and then after I have them for a while.
