Clicking noise that can be felt through brake pedal

Has anyone on here ever had an issue with their front brakes making a clicking noise that can be felt through the pedal. I did a brake job and there is a clicking noise that can be heard only on a slow stop going forward. It does not make any noise braking in reverse. It doesn't make any noise hard braking going forward. Only slow braking going forward. I have taken the brakes apart again to make sure everything was right and found no problems. I took the pads back and exchanged them for other pads, thinking maybe I had bad pads. I had the rotors turned and it still does it. Any help would appreciated.

There's quite a lot of variables here. I'll get the ball rolling . . .

Is the noise consistent? Does it just make one click per pedal press or does it repeat over and over? Is it at what could be a rotational frequency? DOes it only do it in a straight line, or does turning while braking have any effect? Are you sure it is indeed your brakes and/or that it is coming from the front of the car? When you did your last brake job, did you put all the shims and pad tensioners back in (and correctly)? Did you clean and re-lube the glide pins? Did you use the correct pads, and correctly use the pads intended for your car? Have you had any recent impacts with potholes or curbs etc.? Have you had any issues with your brake booster? Are you running any kind of wheel spacers? Have you torqued your lugnuts recently?

The noise is consistent. It does repeat over and over only on a slow brake. It does it whether I am going straight or turning. It does have a rotational frequency to it. The slower I go, the slower the clicking. I am pretty sure it is the brakes. It only makes the noise when the brake is applied when I am slowly rolling to a stop. I did put all the shims and pad tensioners back in correctly twice. I used the correct pads made for the model car I have according to Pepboys auto parts store. Like I said I took the first set back and explained to them what was going on and was given a new set. No pot holes or curbs to hit down here in Atlanta GA. I am still using the factory rims that came with the car.

Firstly, do you have AWD or RWD?

i had a similar issue on my FX and as it turned out the dust shield behind the rotor had bent just a little where of its fins was slightly touching the rotors causing clicking sounds during slow braking.

First make sure that there is no debris stuck between the rotor and the shield and then turn the rotor by hand and hear for the sound and make sure that nothing is touching the rotor.

Hopefully this is the issue which is an easy fix, let us know how it works out.

Sorry for getting back to you so late. It is not the dust shield. I have checked a couple times now. I am thinking it might be the caliper. I just don't see how. Anyway I now have a new problem with the left front wheel. I need to replace the front left bearing and hub. It started making noises the other day as I was on the road. Can anyone tell me what Timken model I am supposed to have. The local parts store said It was model number HA590027 which did not fit. I had to take it back. Timken site says it's model HA590376. I can't seem to find a picture of it to make sure it matches. I don't want to got through the process of taking everything apart again to find out the bolt holes don't line up. Can anyone tell me if the is the right part from a previous installation?

As far as I know, or have seen posted in this forum, no one has swapped just the bearing itself; always the entire hub assembly.

I also have a brake noise. Turn out to be it was my brake caliper making the noise. I can shake the caliper by hand. Looking to replace the caliper.

I have the exact same problem with mine and can't figure it out. I have uploaded a video of the noise on YouTube:

The noise begins at 0:11 and is loudest towards the end of the video. I should've renamed the video "clicking noise" instead of rattling noise. The noise is loudest from my rear passenger tire and less noisy from my rear driver side tire. The clicking slows down as my car slows down and only occurs when the brakes are lightly applied. If I jam on the brakes the noise doesn't occur. If anyone figures out what is going on in this thread, please let me know. Thanks!

^^ That's sounds like either the pads are shifting around on their seats, or less likely something with the axle and/or diff. That being said, I'd give a good look at the suspension too.

Hey, I think you're right. I took a look at the pads/calipers today and the calipers were a little loose. Unfortunately, I stripped one of the 2 bolts when I tried to tighten it , so I wasn't able to stop the noise. Gotta get a new bolt and get the stripped on off before I can find out for sure.

I found this video on YouTube that appears to have a similar problem(around the 3:00 mark):
