Suspension knocking

And yet more suspension woes...

Rather than assume i know what's going on (looking at kool_yaar and vqsmile here ), can anyone confirm for me what could be causing this issue?

When accelerating briskly from a stop, backing up and into inclines with wheel turned, or just going over small bumps slowly, i hear a knocking or popping from the passenger front suspension area.

Any ideas?

This is a new development and unrelated to the creaking or grinding noise i had in the past (solved the creaking, and the grinding is only at full lock with forward movement... seems to stem from the leaking rack, driver side.)

Thanks

Thanks. Okay, gave that a shot and will test drive it. I also tightened every bolt tied to a strut/spring swap... control arms, endlinks/sway, strut mounts, etc.

The bushing looks good, but noticed the front-most bolt was a little loose.

Tightened it up and also ran the impact on spurts on the top bolt. Right after putting the car back down i heard the pop again.

Although, as of this morning, there were no popping noises. I hope it is indeed fixed. *knock on wood*

If the problem is not resolved it could be the compression rod bushing.

So did tightening everything down fix the problem?

Is that from the leaking rack, the clunk that is? Just wondering as mine doesn't clunk, if anything i just hear that grinding noise at full lock and going forward (it doesn't happen reversing at full lock) -- maybe it's something else for you?

Do you have a sound clip by chance?

If your lower then it's probably your endlinks going bad. I had the same problem as you and as soon as I change out my endlinks the problem went away.

Thanks, Match.

FWIW, after i went back to 8.5" wide front wheels, the full-lock grinding noise is gone. I always thought my 9.5's were hitting the edge of the Eibach sways as it happened when i got those, but was non-existent with the OEM sway.
