08 XS lowering springs

Hello all, I just joined this forum. My name is Max I have recently bought a 08 g35xs a few months ago. I have already done a few mods and now from looking around online I decided I want to lower it. From searching online, I can see that there are only eibachs for the awd model. That's fine and all but the drop is only 1.3 in front and 1.1 in rear and that seems a little weak so I would like a little lower drop than that. Is that possible with springs? I noticed the G35s model springs have more options and they are a little lower. My question is could I buy regular sport model springs and put them on my X? would that work and drop a little lower than the eibachs for the X? Or are the springs specifically for each model? Sorry If this is a common question or something.

Welcome to the forums. I think I saw somebody that had used H&R springs but the issue is the spring rate for the fronts. because of the AWD they need to be able to handle the weight. Either way I hope you plan on getting camber arms because anything lower than eibachs will knock you're camber way out. heck even with eibachs the camber was close to -2.0 all around on my car. If you want my advice skip the springs and get coilovers. Even the cheaper megans like I have ride sooo much better than the eibachs. You can dial in the height and stiffness to exactly what you want.

So what would happen if I bought Eibachs or H&Rs for the rwd model and put them on my X? would the drop be like 2x as much or something? I was really looking for a 1-1.5 finger gap all around but I don't really want to spend over 1k on coilovers. Kinda of wish I didn't get a X but because of the brutal winters up here in the Midwest I think it will make it easier. Anyways if you could give me some more info about awd and lowering that would be appreciated.

As long as the spring rates exceed the stock spring rates, yes, you can use any spring for any G or Z, but G coupe springs are gonna give you a more dramatic drop than advertised and Z springs will be even lower than that.

Understand tho, that an inch of lowering is more dramatic than it sounds. I have an 04 coupe and I'm on eibach pro kit (1.2"F, .08"R). I can ALMOST fit my pinky finger between my rear wheel and fender, and can comfortably fit my pinky between my front wheel and fender. but no more than my pinky. I know the X is higher, but know that its gonna look a lot different than it seems.

Where can i find out the spring rates? most websites that sell the springs don't put that info. Also does anyone know the stock spring rates for comparison? I found some Tein H-techs that say they are 325lbs/in in the front and 263lbs/in in the rear is that enough?

I'm pretty sure all aftermarket springs have higher rates than stock, cuz stock are made for comfort.

There was someone on here who just put coupe springs on his X. It lowered it while keeping a similar-to-stock ride. It really just depends on how low you wanna go.

I wanted around 1.5 inches all around at least, so your saying I could get those teins or eibachs that are for the rwd and it will be fine? I don't want to slam the car, just so there isn't much wheel gap. I just don't want to get the rwd springs and then find out that they are going to slam the car.

I would just go with the ones that eibach offers for the x then. Or the coupe eibach pro kit at most. Its hard to say how much the rwd kit is gonna go. An inch+ that the X kit would give you is gonna make a bigger difference than you think.

If you want a little more tho go with the rwd sedan pro kit.

You should get Swift springs. Unlike the others, the drop is mild but the springs are not progressive. You will probably not need camber kits either like you do with others. Also, depending on mileage, I would use this opportunity to get some new dampers.

It would probably be about the same. You may get an extra .2 inches out of the sedan kit.

BTW, you're gonna need a camber kit.

I have been lowered on Eibach's for 5 years or so,, ( my car is NOT a daily driver) It is a real nice drop and look,, be advised though the front wheel wells are cut different, Higher, than the rears,, so imo, if you make your car even, its gonna be severely raked, meaning front will prolly be to low.....
