I changed my oil last night while at work. I used the same filter Mobil M108, I also used Mobil 1 5W 30 Fully Synthetic. The engine loved it.

 

i went with M1 5w-30 but not the fully synthetic one. i havent really "driven" the car to see if it likes it or not. but its a lease....

 

Yeah my car loves the synthetic. On my next oil change I will be installing the Engine Oil Cooler. If the Dual intake for the G comes out, I will Add that plus the Exhaust from Stillen.

 

i changed my oil by myself for the first time today and it was super easy! after finding where the drain and filter was it was all easy from there. def put the drain plug back in very tight with 14 mm socket and hand tighten the filter on as much as you can and then give it that extra turn using something to grip it. make sure to put oil on the edge of the filter before screwing it on. it will expand after putting it on so don't be too worried about hand tightening too tight. it tightens after expanding.

 

what are your engine oil temps? do you live in a really hot climate?

 

I Live in the Northern part of N.J.. It gets hot but nothing like Arizona. When I had my FX, I did the engine oil cooler mod and I felt a difference. On long trips and spirited driving the engine still felt tight as if it was just started. So this convinced me to do the oil cooler mod to my 2007 G35S on my next change. I wish there was a mod for the ECU to lift its limiter so I can experience the full potential while at the track. But I guess we just have to wait for that to happen. Maybe next year. I also want to see some dyno results with the Stillen dual intake and the new Stillen exhaust together. That is once the dual intake comes out.

Yes it does.. I suggest you look again.. It's also listed in the service manual

 

Yes, you need to specify this one. "Hand tight" is not the same as using a wrench. You can put more than 150 Nm on a bolt with a wrench. You can only put a couple on with your fingers.

 

Apologies for digging up an old thread, but I just completed my second oil/filter change on my '07 and figured it was about time to respond with a key piece of information in this thread.

Namely, there is no need to pull the belly pan from the '07's like I had to do on my '05 and '06. Instead there is a small opening (without a cover) for the oil pan drain plug and a "gated" cover with three screws where the oil filter is. Compared to the last 2 model years I owned, the '07 is a comparable pleasure. Just pull the plug and let it drain through the 4" hole, then remove three screws holding the cover on under the filter.

I also get the added bonus of not getting a mouthful or covered in the sand/gravel/dirt that gets caught up under the belly pan from all the crap they put on our winter roads.

i actually did mention that. i didnt find a trap door for the plug or filter. if there was one, i wouldve mentioned it. maybe different models or after a certain number of cars they added the trap door.

 

Does anyone know the link to an oil change walk through or article? or any thing that shows you exactly what screws to take out for the bottom plastic cover?

Terry stick with what you have, jacks and stands have worked for almost a
century. Ramps are cool but they must be secured and to be safe you need
two people to do a drive on. A buddy of mine ruined the front suspension on
his high $ '34 Vicki because one ramp moved and he was by himself....BAM!!
To do an oil change you must remove at least six of those bolts that hold the
rubber/plastic cover on. I always remove mine, yea it's a PIA but to do the
job without making a mess it's worth it to me. Oil filters need to be hand
tightened.....snug then at least 3/4 turn. (by hand) Only replace that brass
washer if needed......I put 125K miles on my last Z and "Never" replaced it!
That's an oilchange every 2K miles and never driped a drop, that's a lot of
oil but worth the expense........it still runs like a watch!

 

anyway we can take those pictures and add them to thier respective step, so next time someone needs to change their oil, they can see all the info w/ pics, on the first post?
