DIY: M45s Shift Knob
I agree the materials used in the M **** are superior. The leather feels nicer... But to produce the M ****, looks more simple, less manufacturing steps...
Where with the G ****, combining the aluminum trim with the leather takes extra steps...
Looking at the M ***** pricing, the Sport **** is a little less than the solid black or willow ****. Why I dont know.
NISSAN is just plain old weird with pricing sometimes I guess...

INFINTI QX56 = JA60
NISSAN ARMADA = TA60
INFINITI I30/I35 = CA33
NISSAN MAXiMA = A33
essentially the same chassis but seperate codes...
INFINITI is converting their vehicles to not share any US platforms in the up-coming years.
The new QX will be based on the Patrol platform!

Thanks for the DIY Shane - I followed your instructions, only substituting a Dremel with a cutting wheel for the steak knife.
I guess I like the M **** better - was expecting more of a difference (some "cool" factor), but guess it's just a ****

Has anyone got the M45 **** to fit the 05/06 sedan?
I tried and it doesnt fit at all. The plastic tip on my 06 is square, not round. So i rounded it til it fit inside the ****. But it still doesnt work, it seems too long.
Also the boot doesnt clip to the bottom of the ****.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You have to purchase the plastic shaft adapter that is made specifically for the M shift **** or even a 07-08 G35 shift ****.
If the boot isnt clipping to the bottom of the ****, then it sounds like you are going to have to purchase the M shift boot so you can either switch boots or change the clip ring to your new boot.

The first thing you do is pull down on the shift ring to separate the shift boot from the shift ****.

There is a clip that needs to be taken off so that the shift **** can be removed. The clip looks like this.

WOW..looks much nicer!
Once the clip is removed, you simply pull the shift **** up to remove it.

Once the shift **** is removed, I put the M45s shift **** on and marked where the new grooves were to be made on both sides. I removed the M45s shift **** and cut grooves on each side where I marked. Like Kre62, I just used a serrated steak knife to make the grooves.

Once the new grooves are made for the clip, I simply put the M45s shift **** on, put the clip in place, and pulled the shift ring up to fasten it to the shift ****.

And you are finished.
