For those who recall their cabin filter swap, how did you deal with placing the white cover/lid back on after placing the new filter in? To clarify, I'm referring to this cover:

This white cover has several triangular wedges that seem to be there acting as spacers to keep the filter in place. I didn't realize they were there so did not pay attention to the used filter, but when I placed the new filter in, I found I couldn't close/clip the white cover back into place. These wedges seem to force the filter upwards (at least in the front), such that the filter is no longer parallel to the ground. Is this what other DIYers experienced as well?

Mine was the same way, didnt really clip in at all, but once everything is put back in place it stays put. that was the toughest part, getting the plastic wedges up under there and getting it to stay closed.

I just replaced my OEM in-cabin filter today with the FRAM Fresh Breeze CF10140, carbon loaded and with Arm N Hammer ($10 after rebate on Amazon, $13.04 each, get two and qualify for Super Saver shipping). Question on the arrow - on the side of the filter it says to point it in the direction of the airflow. This other write up that I found gives instructions for the OEM carbon filter which indicates the arrow should be pointing up. Any ideas as to which direction the air is flowing (up or down)? Please say up because I don't want to disassemble the glove again!

OP or someone who has done this. I opened everything up without any problem until the last step. White plastic door doesn't swing open more than 15 degrees. There is a metal bar on the left side of the door blocking it from opening. Do you know what I'm talking about?

I just changed mine, this is great thanks SoundMike. BTW I got my OEM Filter from infinitipartsusa.com for $29.00, it fits perfect.

this is a nice write up but it isn't working for my 07 coupe. I can't even get passed the second step.
I found a write-up on InfiniteHelp.com http://infinitihelp.com/diy/gsedan/p...eplacement.htm which states that I just need to pull the glove box toward me and it would some how unlatch. But it seems that if I just pull on the glove box I'm going to break it.
help any would be awesome.

If you look at my pic for 07 G35x in post #27, there are 3 tabs at the bottom of the glove box that attach to the back panel. This is where I have to pull up hard to free the glove box. Probably it's similar in the 07 Coupe.

From what you said it sounds like the 07 sedan & Coupe are similar. I took pictures and will put together a DIY for it soon.

thx,

Thanks again... I just hit 65000 and never changed the filter. It was gross haha.
hey i broke the white tab on the left of the filter housing too! haha but aside from that this took about 15 minutes. Looks like the previous owner replaced it at least once because i could tell someone tore this apart before! Excellent write up, I would recommend everyone use this if they have any questions on how to replace the filter.
