Not knowing anything about switchback I had to google it. I think I see how it works, and I'd assume you would need to go 7443. 7440's are only good for off/on. 7443 would be needed to do the three possible conditions of off/amber/other color. You'd also need to figure out a way to send the signal to the socket, should be easy enough to do, but right now the socket only knows when to turn on (amber) or off. If it is 7440 now that means you would have to power the second circuit to be the other color.

If you switch from halogen to LED I'd guess you'd still need the hyperblink fix as halogen still pulls a higher amp load from the circuit so the car still "sees" the bulb in the circuit. Once you go LED the amp load is so low the car thinks the bulb is not there or burnt out so it hyperblinks as a warning to replace the bulb..

Are those the chrome/amber bulbs? If so it was I wanted a little project to do, get in the garage a bit and had a few extra bucks around.

I just did this. I didnt feel the need to mount the load resistors like that, I just zip tied them next to the lights.. works well. And I also used bulbs that were slightly longer. I also used white led instead of orange. It looks really nice.
