Glover997, there's no special coating on/in the TB. It's just a cast piece of metal with a valve that is connected to the TB with a shaft and two screws. That's it. You can use whatever you want as long as it's rubber/plastic safe and has lubricating properties.

No problem. This is probably the best "maintenance" DIY I've done to my car since I bought it. I'm so happy the whole rough idle issue is now gone and more importantly I know that it was the TB's.

Time to go to bed because you have to wake up early tomorrow, give me a call and we'll go to the dyno, i might be sleeping, so a wake up call would be nice, i've set my alarm at 9am, and i've called a friend of mine to come with his C6 to dyno test it.

Thanks for the DIY. I did this on my wife's '03 Murano (another 3.5l variant) which always stalled when started after warm up. Now if the engine is warm it starts and RPM stay rock solid, no sudden drop or stall like it used to do.

Thanks Again!!

would this fix the problem im having with my car when it idles... the idle drops and comes baq up quite a few times... i thought it was the fact that the small hose that leads from teh intake to some part in the engine was too small and i should cut a new one for it...

That's the exact issue I had and it went away after cleaning the TB's.

This is a must.. I do this every 3rd oil change, I also clean my MAF sensor and clean and oil my intake filter. I recommend these products for upkeep:

Just performed this DIY today and man WHAT A DIFFERENCE! my rpm is now rock solid with NO surges whatsoever! Thanks Q8y_drifter this has to be one of the best DIY!

Anyone experiencing idle rpm surges where car seems like it will die, do this DIY and you will be here thanking Q8y it is SUPER EASY just requires some time. The TB were much more dirty than expected, i will try to snap a pic of the MF towel i used and you will be shocked to see all the dirt i had @ ~46k.

BTW does anyone know the torque specs for TB hex screws? maybe i missed this but i think i might have overtightened it a bit.
