Headgasket or waterpump failure.

Hey guys, thanks for being awesome.
picked up a 08 G35 130 k
was dumping Coolant into the Oil.
milkshake city,
Was certain I would be heading into check out the block and pistons. And change the gaskets etc.
upon getting the timing cover off, found a totally shot water pump....
thing was over heating and eating coolant.
coolant looks clean, oil is a milkshake...
Just looking for a little advice as to continuing to take the back cover etc off. This water pump was a problem, was eating itself....
I feel like I’m going deeper then I have too, looking for a little experience with a total water pump failure.
I have good compression, did not run a leak down as I was sure to be going all the way.. too late.

I changed my water pump out last year, not sure what you mean by taking off the back cover, as I only pulled the front cover. While you're in there replace the chain guides and tensioner, and if you're feeling adventurous get at the oil gallery gaskets as well.

I am going to continue on to replace the
headgasket unless I get some better advice and someone thinks the waterpump was what needed changing,
little nervous... heading forward
Rear cover then cams all have to come out,
thanks for the reply.

Can’t read your first message for some reason, but why would you pull the valves??? Leave the buckets in, pull head bolts, and pull off heads.

I was able to quote it and see it.

your water pump corroded, froze up, and overheated the engine. Damn. Sorry to hear that. Definitely recommend replacing the rear timing cover gallery gaskets while in there. If you don’t, it’ll poke it’s ugly head out in a few thousand miles.

I would definitely replace the head gaskets and pray your block will still mate well to the heads. You may consider getting the heads planed as they may have warped from overheating.
