Aftermarket Intake...worth it?

I've read all the threads here on custom air intakes, and I'm still not sure whether it's worth it. If you take the "better sound" out of the equation, are there proven, documented test results that there's a performance increase with any of the aftermarket units? (let alone a performance decrease as many have talked about).

You'll get a variety of answers, but I think the most common answer is gains will be minimal if anything, and quite possibly a loss in bottom end torque. Infiiti made a great intake that aftermarkets don't out perform. Aftermarket would be for sound gains only.

i think the fujita looks great, and stillen looks factory. besides that, like IvoryG said, gains will be minimal.... I would get the fujita, but i don't think the hot air from lots of stop and go traffic will be good for the motor ( I live DEEP down south and it's hot 10 months out the year)

Looks great and sounds better. As for adding HP, it's a wash, but I say do it!!

I agree with everything that everyone else has said. I have the Fujita intakes and they look and sound great but I notice absolutely no gains.

all you get is more noise, with no noticeable power increase. do you want more noise?

It won't break the motor, it's just that the car will perform better if the car takes in colder air.

They'll make a difference in the sound and they look nice, but from past experience they add little noticeable gains in HP/TQ. Not a very good price/performance mod.
