It's been out 1 month. (May 16, 2008) If that seems long to you, knowing that the average life expectancy is in the 70's must be hell for you

This reflash takes absolutely nothing away from the jaw dropping performance or fun factor of the vehicle. It'll still through you back in your seat. It definitely provides better linear acceleration and my gas mileage seems to have increased slightly. Of course there is no way to accurately gauge this.

This tsb applied to a 2007 G35 will make it drive identical to the 2008 G35's.

I could accelerate smoothly most of the time before the reflash, but the reflash makes the car drive alot better without the need to apply the gas gingerly.

Some of us had the throttle "smoothed out" last year, with the TB that was intended to stop erratic throttle behavior on cruise control. This was a definite improvement over the jerky throttle. Many drivers didn't have any cruise control problems but just wanted smoother performance and needed to get the dealers to co-operate.

Is this latest TB much different to the other one and does anyone know if it will undo the benefits of the first TB..?

Thanks

The car is much easier to launch now and to come out of fast turns. Before the flash, I had problems with wheel spin in both situations.

G35's use something called a drive by wire throttle system. This is different than a conventional throttle system because there is no longer a cable that is attached to the gas pedal which would normally operate the butterfly valve (in our case we have two since we have two separate intakes).

A butterfly valve is this valve located in whats called a throttle body which opens up as you press the gas, allowing more air to flow into your engine.

Drive by wires eliminate the need for the mechanical cable, instead relying on a pedal position sensor which monitors the position of the gas pedal at all times, sending its information to the ECU (Engine Control Unit...aka a computer that monitors everything and acts accordingly to keep the engine running) and the ECU can operate the butterfly valve accordingly.

This system results in far greater accuracy and response over conventional throttle systems. Sadly, the algorithm Infiniti used with the '07 G35 is a bit off as the throttle response is non-linear causing it to be far more aggressive at the initial tip in than it ought to be.

Its something thats easy to get used to, as I got used to it after about 10-15 minutes but I think I may get this done as I enjoyed the normal throttle in my 2008 loaner G35 that I got.

And that concludes the online throttle body 101 course.

fecurtis, that is exactly what happened to me. I had a 2008 loaner and the enjoyed the driveability over my 2007.

I picked up my car today from the dealer, they fixed Two problems. My service advisor told me to bring copy’s of TSB so he can give it to mechanic. They gave me a 2008 loaner and throttle pedal is totally different then on my car. After I drove my car home I felt the deference after new software was applied. From the stop car accelerates a lot smoother and also the gear shifting is smoother. He also told me that they replaced SUNROOF BLINDERS with the new ones because new TSB come out that replaces those rubber parts instead of using super glue on old ones.

Called my dealer, they have NO idea what I am talking about, of course. So I am dropping off my car and the TSB paperwork that I printed online to them tomorrow, 11am. I will post my findings if anyone cares......

Sounds like they probably didn't do it. We're not talking miracles here, but you should have noticed the much improved linear throttle.
