Manumatic Mode / DS Mode NOT WORKING

I hope someone can help me out.. I don't know if anyone here has ever had this problem.

Lately.. my car has been feeling really weird and sluggish.. I was in "D" and shift over to manumatic to do some spirited driving. While in the middle of shifting from 2-3(doesnt matter which gear) the car just went back into "D", while the lever is still in manumatic mode. Nothing works. I tried to shift it back and forth, nothing, I put it back into "D" and then back to manumatic again, NOTHING... the car shifts normally in "D"..

I was like WTFFFFF... and then when i came to a stop, i put it into "N" and then back into "D", and that worked fine.. but manumatic still DOES NOT WORK..

So.. I turned off the car, and then turned it back on, then everything went back to normal..

It does this everyday now.. I don't know what to do.

I have a 2007 Journey G35 Sedan

Time to take it to the dealer. That's definitely not normal, and I'm pretty doubtful there's going to be a DIY fix for that.

OP Take it to the dealer as above. Your car is still under warranty...Aeson, I feel sorry for you man. Just coffee and donuts? Mine offers complimentary popcorn, soda/coffee, breakfast bagels, eggs, sandwiches for lunch, and ice cream/cookies for dessert.

I never drive in D, ALWAYS in DS. It's always just down and over, period, and it usually doesn't take but about 2 or 3 minutes before the paddles get a workout.... just can't help it.

And yes, time for a dealer visit.

^+1 on the dealer visit, but im pretty sure i have seen a post recently about the same issue and as it turned out there was some sort of a switch under the boot that was either damaged or loose or something...

Any updateon this? I have the same problem but I'm now out of warranty. It seems more common that deceleration in 2nd gear trips some fail-safe and the system reverts to Stuck in D mode. No way to get back to manumatic unless you fully shut down the car and restart. Tranny is still rock solid so it just seems like a sensor or computer based issue, hoping someone has insight that could save me a few hundred or at least help me be informed when I go to the dealer. For reference, I use manumatic 95% of the time on my 2007 G35S w/ 80K.

I took it to the dealer for repair and they took care of the problem for me by changing the whole shifter unit - i was still under warranty though - dont know if this is a TSB or if they are willing to do it outside of warranty as it is a "defect"

First part you must check is 34950m - shift lock solenoid ~ $80
Other part is Device Assy Transmis 34901-JK60C ~ $300

Open the boot and spray some air into the shift lock area to clear anything.
Sometimes this happens to me.
