Black Betty Wires
I just got the wires in the mail today and I was wondering if my presets on the radio and addresses on the navi will be erased when I disconnect the battery? They did come with instrustions, I just disconnect the red cable on the battery right?
I met up with Black Betty this past weekend and he installed the grounding kit for me (05 G35). If I remember correctly, he just took the screw out of the negative (black) cable without actually disconnecting the cable. If anything, it may have disconnected for a few seconds, but my radio presets were still there when I started my car. I cannot comment on the Navi since I don't have one. Just do this step last and you should be fine. Hope that helps.
Disconnecting the radio will remove the presets... especially if the battery is unhooked for more than a few seconds. I had the battery disconnected when I installed my paddles. Radio presets and the auto windows are needed to be set again.
Addresses in the Navi... I don't believe those got deleted.

when I unhook battery I lose presents, auto window, nothing in the NAV. Going to get a set of these myself, 2GorNot2G I believe already did this and is a great guy that could probably help you out with Q's...
Just saw this thread. Whether or not you lose presets depends on how long your battery is disconnected for. I don't know the magical amount if time it needs to be unhooked before you have to reset everything, but if it's only unhooked for a few minutes, everything should be OK. I've had my cable off for 15 minutes or so and didn't lose anything in memory. After disconnecting for about an hour, I had to reset radio and windows (can't remember if I had to do Navi too).
You SHOULD always disconnect the battery first before doing anything electrical as a safety precaution. I've had times when I didn't disconnect until I had to make the battery terminal connection which I do last. That way it's only disconnected fir a few moments while you add the wire(s) that connects directly to the battery
