Stillen Gen 3 Intake for 07+ G35

I hope I'm not completely behind the times - but the Generation 3 Ultra Long Tube Intake is up on the Stillen website now.

Claims 12-15HP - too good to be true?

It's on sale right now for barely more than the Generation 2. Does anyone know how difficult these are to install? Are there any modifications necessary?

yea these new Intakes are pretty hot and show alot of gains compared to other Intakes! seen a dyno on Stillens site showing about a 12-14hp gain, but it's mostly at the top end of the RPM range, think the max HP they got was at like around or near 7000RPM.! but I will be picking these up soon and selling my Injen! Want to buy? LOL

Anyway check this thread out! this Intake requires some cutting of the plastic radiator support. and you can do this job by taking out the OEM grille, or remove the front bumper itself. it's up to you. but it is a PITA to install but may be worth it for the gains!

Check it out here... https://g35driver.com/forums/tech-07...llen-gen3.html

People are wowed by the upper rpm gains (6.5k rpm and up) but the Stillen also shows some nice 4-7hp gains (eyeballing from the graph) from 4.5k to 6k rpm--that's very useable for day to day driving.

i personally think it's too much of a pain to install to buy it, cause you need to cut and all.

I've been thinking of just buying a pair of the appropriate diameter size K&N cone style air filters and removing the restrictive airbox components all together. The restrictive airbox and paper filter element have to be the lions share of where gains can be made. The K&N air filters can be purchased for about $60/ pair. (since the '08 have a dual throttle body intake setup.)

Just be aware that other aftermarket cone filter systems for our cars actually LOSE hp compared to stock.

Hang on a sec, I'm not talking about replacing the whole long tube intake system. I'm just thinking of removing the airfilter housing box and the stock OEM air filter and in their place installing a cone K&N air filter. That alone is good for 1-4HP gains and can be purchased for about $65 for a pair of cone filters.

Yeah but where are you gonna mount the filters, you would need an adapter and they dont make an adapter for just regular cone filters, you can get the K&N replacement filters which would give you better performance anyway.the stock intakes are designed really well from nissan, just pop in K&Ns to increase the flow.

Last I heard, the fitment of the K&N drop-ins was lousy.
Has this since been addressed?

I have heard feedback that the K&N drop-in panel filters give you no hp gains. As far as stock goes, it IS very well designed as evidenced that the aftermarket is finding it hard to get gains over it. If you are not into the noise, there is no reason to change intakes.
